Okay I know a lot of people don't like shots, and dont get them. BUT why is it such a big deal ? My perosnal opinion is they do good for them. My twins both get the RSV shot, I know that has done us good because we would have been back in the hospital by now without them.
Why is it that people freak out about shots? Give them tylenol just before and they will be fine. Deal with it, they are your babies.
I dont like to see them unfomortable either but they are my kids and I will protect them !

I'll bite. It has nothing to do with them being uncomfortable for the baby. It has to do with the ingrediants that are in the shots like mercury, formaldhyde (sp?), aluminum and aborted fetuses to name a few that make them unsafe. Also many studies showing that vaccines may cause many problems like autism, ADD/ADHD, diabetis, auto-immune disorders, SIDS, allergies, etc. This is one very heated topic that was just debated about a week ago. If you do a search for "vaccination video" you will find a very good debate about both sides of vaccines.

I am not going to go into great detail here b/c like I said, the information is available if you take the time to look for it. Here are some good sites to get your started

I beleive that babies under the age of 2 should not get them. Between the second trimester and the age of 2 a childs brain grows the most, and the most damage can be done between those ages. I feel that theres no good reason to inject our littles ones at that age, and that vaccines should be held off until the child is over two years of age.

Thank you so much ! I seriously did not understand about this. I just watched a 20/20 special about all of it and I now understand. I probably would have hesitated if I would have know about all of it .

All of my kids have gotten all their shots on time and have had no problems with that. My twins also are getting the RSV shots as well. I too believe that there are great benefits to them, but you will find others choose to delay for one reason or another. But as PP said most people that delay do it because of the ingredients in the shots, not because they are painful to the babies. Everyone has different opinions on them, but all of mine are fully vaxed and on time.

The 20/20 piece was very interesting and definitely in favor of vaccinating. They mentioned that a link between autism and vaccinations has never been established in any major research study.

My pediatrician told me that she chose to vaccinate her daughter and that the risks of not vaccinating far outweigh the risks of doing so. They also mentioned that diseases that were once nearly eradicated in the US, like whooping cough, are on the rise because so many parents are choosing not to vaccinate - that children are needlessly exposed to illnesses that could easily be prevented.

I know this is a very personal choice, and I don't want to start a big to-do, I just wanted to summarize the 20/20 piece, because it put a lot of my own fears to rest.

Angie is right. There is a lot of information in that thread, and both sides are represented.

I figured I would rather them have shots then develop one of the diseases the shots prevent. Plus, in Indiana you can't get them in a school without shots. I think some parents just go overboard on some issues...that is my opinion.

We're all just trying to do what's best for our babies with the information we have at hand. I wouldn't rush to minimize anyones conserns about shots or anything else for that matter. These babies are miracles and deserve all the best from us. For some that means giving shots and for others not giving them.

If you don't vaccinate them, how do you get them into daycare or school? My daycare will not let me bring them unless they have an updated shot records and I know school require at least a Hep B shot.

Every state has waivers to allow unvaccinated children in public school and a state funded day care. Even Indiana, b/c that is where I am from and my girls can go to public school. Vaccines are not manatory by state or federal government, they are not law. Everyone has the right to "opt out" of getting their children vaccinated. Even the HPV vaccine, no vaccine is manatory. The gov't likes for people to believe they dont have a choice but you do.
Here is a site that lists the US and what waivers are allowed for what state

Edited to add: I think I should say for anyone reading this that the gov't does not allow you to limit your vaccine schedule for public schools. In other words, you either do all the shots or none at all. You cant pick and chose. If you only chose to do 3 or 4 shots instead of the "reguired" 30, you must complete the 30 b/c the waiver does not protect limited vaccinated children. In saying that you do have 5 years to make up those shots if you chose to do so.

That is very scarey that you can get a waiver to not have your children vaccinated for school. I will have to contact my school district about this as I don't wish for my children to be exposed to children who aren't vaccinated. Not because I am a snob...because I am concerned for my children's health.

Sorry but there is nothing that you, your school district, the govenor, senator, or the president can do to avoid letting unvaccinated children in the public school system. The only way for you to avoid unvaccinated children is to home school b/c they can not stop ANY unvaccinated child from attending a public school.

Then why get them vaccinated? If they are "safe" since they are vaccinated, why are you worried?
