It's been over a week since my girls had their second series of shots. The first couple of days they were feverish and just cranky. Now, they are better, but not really napping during the day like they had been. Is this shot related, or did they come out of a growth spurt and not requiring much sleep during the day. I think Hannah napped a total of about 1 1/2 hour yesterday from 6am to 7pm and she was really not that cranky. Every time I'd put her down or rock her, she'd whine and cry - so I stopped and she was fine. {sigh} Help!

After our kids got their first shots, our son became very irritable and our daughter became sleepy and the effects lasted for a few days. We decided then to only give them one shot a month, and fortunately our ped agreed with us. We have to pay for the office visits though, but our insurance covers most.

I doubt it's the shots. They will switch the routine and sometimes you will wonder if they're ever going to nap again. Then the next day, they'll take a 3 hour afternoon nap.

Don't get too hyped up about it. They're kids and kids will be kids. :pardon:

My girls were fussy after shots but it only lasted for 1 day. I never had any reactions of fussiness or sleeplessness for longer than one 24-hour period. They may just be going through something else that coincided with the timing of the shots.

We never had reactions that lasted more than a day or two except with the MMR which comes much later. I would bet it's something else, growth spurt, teething, etc. I hope they are better soon!

If they are not fussy, it could be that developmentally they need less sleep than they did before. How long do they sleep at night? If they are sleeping a long stretch at night they may only need 1 1/2-2 hours of naptime during the day. Also, if they are getting more interested in playing, learning to sit, etc, it is hard to get them to wind down for naps because they are afraid to miss something. I doubt it was the shots

One time DD was fussy right after her shot and we gave her some Tylenol. Other than that, I haven't noticed any increased fussiness or sleeplessness after shots. I would guess that it's not related to the vaccines.
