I'll be 27 weeks in 2 days and for the last few days (maybe more) by the evening time I am extremely short of breath whenever I try to do any kind of activity other than sitting on the couch with my legs propped up. When I say activity, I mean walking up the stairs, putting in a load of laundry, folding clothes, going out for dinner, etc. Is anyone else experiencing this? I find it really unsettling to walk from my house to the car parked in the driveway only to find myself out of breath. I haven't been exercising during my pregnancy b/c of varicose vein pain, but I am a SAHM to a 2 year old so I'm on my feet quite a bit during the day. Anyhow, I go to see my peri on monday morning so hopefully they'll have some answers!

Hi, just wanted to reassure you.... most likely this is totally normal. Mention it to your peri, anyway. I started feeling short of breath around 27/28 weeks and it lasted until I delivered at 38 weeks. It was sometimes the babies squishing my lungs or just sometimes the weight of carrying around such a huge load. Anyway, good luck to you!

Hi, I am 25 weeks and experience shortness of breath as well. I am quite active with three other children 11, 7, and 22 months. Today, after walking up the stairs I needed 10 minutes on the couch just to fully catch my breath. Sleeping at night is hard too...difficult to find a comfy position.

It is good to mention this to your doctor but I also experienced shortness of breath in the later part of my pregnancy.

I'm also 27 weeks and have the same problem. Mine started about 3 weeks ago. My OB said its probably b/c Baby B is soooo high up in my chest. My blood work came back from last week and I have borderline anemia which she said can also cause shortness of breath. So maybe you need your iron tested again. I have a 2 year old as well and chasing her around all day nearly kills me lol.

I'm 27 weeks 1 day today and I feel the same thing. I've had this feeling for a few weeks now. My baby b is kind of right up underneath my boobs, so he presses on my diaphragm alot! Now that I'm on bed rest, I find that I get out of breath even more, but I even feel this way when just laying down. My doc says its normal, but of course mention it to your peri anyway. Those babies are starting to take up alot of space!

You aren't alone! I'm 27 weeks today and I'm right there with you! Walking just from the couch to the bathroom and going pee makes me out of breath.. It's sometimes embarassing when I'm in public huffing and puffing for no apparent reason..

Good luck! Hang in there mama!

Oh, I had it starting at about 28 weeks and I felt like I had walked a mile even if it was just a few steps to the couch. Those babies are starting to take up a ton of room in there. Definitely worth a mention to the Peri. But I am sure that its normal.

I would definitely mention it, maybe they will want to do some bloodwork. A sure sign from your body telling you to sllllooooow down.

THANKS SO MUCH! Glad to hear that I'm not alone in this! I'm going to the peri today and will ask about it. Also going to mention doing bloodwork to check out the anemaia thing. I recall about 8 weeks ago my dr told me to take iron pills every other day and b/c my iron count was almost borderline but I've been pretty bad about taking the pills! So, maybe now it's more of a concern.

    Again, thank you!
