I have asthma but I don't think that is the problem.

Sometimes I suddenly feel like I'm not getting enough air. Then I start feeling almost like I'm going to have an anxiety attack if I don't sit up. Is this normal?

I am on bedrest and that has happened to me one time. It has not happened more than that. I would talk to your dr. if it happens a lot.

What did your Dr say about this?

I would sometimes feel like I couldn't catch my breath and had to take a deep breath, but it didn't happen all the time.

I feel the same way sometimes. I suffer from anxiety and the shortness of breath really makes the anxiety worse...I'm always trying to figure out "is this anxiety? or just shortness of breath from hormones, baby pushing up, etc." I found distraction works best. I also found that increasing my iron (iron pill and diet) has helped me. Take care :)

She didn't seem concerned about it as long as it wasn't my asthma acting up. She said as long as the feeling was alleviated by sitting up that it was probably just the babies getting bigger and putting more pressure on my lungs. She said that if it wasn't relieved by sitting up and taking several deep breaths to call her. She pretty much said that both the shortness of breath and the anxiety was normal.
