My DS has been getting up around 5 for several weeks now but now the past 2 weeks he is not taking good naps either! His naps are about an hour to an hour and 10 min and they used to be and hour and a half.
No he is NOT ready for one nap, he is always tired.......he goes to bed at 730 and I've tried earlier and later bedtimes. I've tried music in his room to get him back to sleep, going in there, not going in there...
I do not see any teeth coming in, we had him checked for allergies and he is on zyrtec for that and prevacid for his reflux so what is going on and what do I do about it? I am tired of this non sleeping!!!!!!!! :(
I want him back on our old wonderful schedule of sleeping 730 to 600 at least (630 would be better) and naps for 1 1/2 hours!
    :(
I've also tried cio, he just screams and screams and screams and gets all worked up:( There has to be a better solution....

Could you try putting him to bed earlier? If my girls don't take good naps they go to bed between 6 and 6:30.

i agree, try putting him to bed by 6:30ish and then let him CIO at 5am, don't go in until 6am (or when ever you decide). E went through a thing where she was waking up and crying at 5am and we tried everything until finally we just let her CIO for several nights in a row and after 3-4 nites when she woke up at 5am she just stirred, maybe let out 1 or 2 cries and went back to sleep. G.L. it's hard when the over-tiredness leads to worse sleeping....

I'm working on it, he cried from 5am to 540 this am.
I'll try working up till 6 but it's hard to hear all that crying and I'm on my own as my husband is in korea;(

Argh, the crying is so hard to deal with! My DS was up crying for an hour last night so the memory is still fresh.

It sounds like he has gotten over-tired and is having a hard time sleeping well because of it. My DS is like that too. I'd keep putting him to bed on the early side. I'd also get him up in the morning if he's really crying and it's clear that he's not going to go back to sleep. Then put him down for his first nap earlier than usual. I'd do it at the first sign of tiredness. The goal is to get him caught up on sleep so he's not so overtired anymore. Ideally, after a week or so of getting all the sleep he needs, he'd go back to his old sleep schedule. But if that doesn't happen, you can adust his bedtime to get him back on his old schedule.

Good luck. Sleep issues are hard in this time frame. I sometimes miss the old days when I could give them a bottle and they'd fall right back asleep!

It could just be him, but you might also want to consider this: Prevacid can cause insomnia. I don't know if that's what going on here, but you might want to look into maybe changing meds or even trying to wean off of Prevacid now that he is getting older and eating more solid foods. Lots of kids outgrow reflux around that age. (Of course, talk to your doc before messing around with his meds)

 Sleep is such an enigma, and can be soooo frustrating!!
