Shoes that dont hurt their feet?

We live in the dessert, so its always hot, so we dont wear socks much (so this probably doesn't help our situation). my kids have only ever worn sandals (due to the heat here), but I find that about 80% of the shoes I buy for my kids, end up giving them little sores in various spots on their feet. So, as a result they end up wearing their crocs - A LOT! I am just wondering if anyone has had luck in finding decent shoes that dont hurt your kids feet, other then crocs?
I am beginning to worry that they wont every be able to wear shoes that are made of anything other than plastic!!

My kids had no problem in Stride Rite sandals this Summer.

We have had no problems with Stride rite sandals over the last two summers. I also think having two pair per child and alternating days may be helpful in your situation.

Ditto the recommendation for Stride Rite, if you can find them there.

Also, check the width - it may be that your kids need wide or extra wide shoes, and that may be why they're getting blisters. And in general, go for shoes that flex well at the ball of the foot.

If the stores there have Keen sandals for kids, those also look really, really comfy, though we haven't tried them.

I says striderite too. It's really all my girls wear. I have had luck with taking moleskin with an adhesive back and putting it on the spot where it rubs

We live in a desert too (not nearly as hot as the Middle East, of course) and have found that Keen sandals are fantastic. I wear them myself daily in the summer, and the girls alternate between two pairs each of Keens. I've found that rotating sandals is truly the key to avoiding blisters. So whatever pair gets worn on day one does not get worn on day two.

    Ditto KEEN shoes.....or stride rite.

My dd have narrow feet!! So sandals are hard to find that dont rub or wobble too much.

Ours wore KEEN sandals. They were fantastic. I washed them multiple times as well and they still look great.

I absolutely love Keens (I have several pairs, and actually used to run in mine!), and bought some on clearance for the boys last month. I got the Sunports, which feel more "plasticky" than the Keens I'm used to, but this might be because they're the lower-price kids sandal. :pardon:

I'm still happy with them, though, especially since Keens are "anti-stink"!

I've really got to check out keens. Anti-odor? Really? Their sandals smelled awful this summer.

Landsend also does that with some of their sandals. They really don't smell.

I tried going cheap once on sandals and getting some from Payless. The kids got those sandals wet in the lake, and within a week, the sandals turned green from mold. I got the Landsend ones next and they haven't turned green from lake water and they don't smell. I can run them through the washer as well. They are also the kids' preferred shoe when there is a lot of walking to be done in the summer. Just make sure you look for the antimicrobial sandals.

Thanks Marissa. Good tip. I love LE quality but never thought of them for kids shoes.

These are what my kids have. They've each had at least 3 to 4 pairs so far. All have held up really well, even being machine washed about every 2 weeks. There are also free returns to Sears if you get them and they don't fit.

I got lucky and Marshalls had some "keen" like shoes there for boy styles... They are Fila. I love them and they haven't given my boy any blisters etc. I like that they have the toe protection and they have a back velcro strap that allowed us to have him wear them when they were a little big. And best of all they were only $15 or so...

I've gone running in my Keens too! I was totally amazed at how comfortable they were. Felt as cushy as my running shoes, and no blisters. I  Keen. (Though haven't tried their kid shoes.)

Yeah, they are the only sandals I can wear that don't leave blisters, and absolutely do not smell, no matter how wet they get or how many times your feet sweat in them. I swore I was going to buy my boys some when they got old enough. I got sticker-shock this summer and bought Old Navy knockoffs instead, which were fine for a few weeks, and then started to smell like death. The boys actually started saying "stinky feet" every time we took them off.

You can find great prices on Keens at 6pm.com right now because it's the end of the season! :good:

I think the important thing also is to get your kids feet properly measured, and I dont know if ur kids are ID or not, but just because one pair works for one, doesnt mean it will work for the other
