Shoe sizes -- 2 year olds

I haven't even gotten around to introducing myself on this forum yet, but I'm going to jump in with a question anyway...

My kids got some really cute Uggs for their birthday this year. Aside from the fact winter is (hopefully) coming to an end soon and they wouldn't get much wear out of them this season, the boots are too big for them now...but clearly not big enough that the boots would fit them next winter.

I can send the boots back to Uggs and exchange them for a different size, but I have NO idea how to guesstimate what size would be appropriate for them next winter. Can anyone help me out here?

Their birthday is January 11 -- so next winter they will be 2. They are certainly a healthy weight -- at 1 year, Brandon weighed about 23 pounds and Zoe weight about 21 1/2 -- but I think their feet are on the small size. They're fine in 6-12mos size Robeez. Zoe was wearing her 0-6mos size Robeez until January (which was probably too long...it's hard to tell because she habitually curls her toes). Brandon just stopped wearing some 0-6mos shoes, but those are Robeez knock-offs that definitely run bigger all around. To complicate matters, I expect that Zoe will have orthodic inserts of a rather large nature (ankle-high); it's possible Brandon will have some smaller orthotic inserts, although I'm not counting on that.

So...here I am, strugging to guess what size they'll be wearing! They're my first kids, and I have NO idea what an "average" 2 year old's shoe size is...Any suggestions? I'd just love to see a bunch of posts from people, telling what what size shoes your boy or girl wore at 2 years... The Uggs were expensive, and very very cute...I'd hate for them to basically end up in the garbage!

    Thanks so much.

    Mine are 2 now and wear a 6 and a 6.5. We're about to move up to a 6.5 and a 7. I think I would guess big!

We turn 2 in a couple weeks. We were measured last weekend and Ben wears an 8.5XW and Hannah wears a 7.5. I too have no idea what "average" is for 2???!!!

My girls will not be 2 until May, but they are already wearing 7.5s. I have never been able to guess on shoes. Their feet will stay the same size for months, then they will jump 2 sizes.

My girls are 2 and are wearing a size 6. They are smaller built though and weigh 23 lbs and 25 lbs. HTH!!

I wouldn't guess Jazz went from a 4 to a 6 in about a week! She is almost 16 months old and wears a 6 but then I have big feet(dh also).

Ryan wears a size 8xw and Sofia is a size 7. Not sure if that is average. They are both above average in height and weight.

Joy will be two next month, she is in the 95% for height, and 90% for weight.... She wears a 6.5

Our kids will be 2 in April. We just went for new shoes this weekend... Natalie is a size 5 and Gabe is a size 7xw. At their 18 month appt, they were 19 lbs and 24 lbs respectively. I'm guessing they are a little bit bigger now, but they've always been short/small for their age. Their shoes are a little big right now (not falling off, but definitely a little room in the toe area to grow). HTH

Mine turned 2 on Jan. 27. Katelyn is a size 8 and Blake is a 7 to 7 1/2. It is SO hard to guess. Good luck. [IMG]

At 2 years old my ds was a 8 to 8.5 while my dd was a 6. At 2.5 years old my ds wore 9s and then had a feet growth spurt and is now in 10s and my dd moved to a 7 and is just ready for 8s. My ds is quite tall whil my dd is a little above average in height. Good luck with guessing but I would exchange for bigger size at least you'll know it'll fit and they could grow into it.

I would call the customer service department & tell them the scenerio. I bet they will be more than willing to help you, either give an idea of size or maybe a credit until you want to get them next year. Good luck.

I'd guess bug too. I wonder if they would let you return those for a credit so you can order a pair next Sept/Oct when you will know a bit better what their feet size will be.

My kiddos have big feet. William was right around 8 and Nathan a 9 at 2. Now inching close to 3 they are in 10.5 and 11.5 respectively. My DD was the same way but her feet have really slowed down since she was around 5. I would also see if you can't return for store credit. Since you are not sure if they will be in orthodics by then you don't know if they are gonna need extra wide shoes or not.

I believe at two mine were in a 6 and a 6.5. But, I would guess big. If you order them and they are a little big you can always have them wear them with thicker socks. Better having them too big than too small. Call them and see if they could give you a credit.

Mine wear size 6 or 6.5 - but they are tiny. It all depends on the child. Just estimate big!!
