[SIZE=12pt]The twins have started biting recently, Mikayla more so than Michael. Well, we went to church yesterday. (I went with the twins, DH rarely goes) and I said to the twins, "You can walk to the car if you hold mommy's hand". (We've been working on holding hands and walking) So Michael holds my hand and Mikayla wants to run off by herself. I grab her by the hand and say, "No, either hold mommy's hand and walk, or I will pick you up." Well she started throwing a fit on the pavement. I lifted her up to her feet by her arm. She again melted down. I said, "Ok, mommy will carry you." So I heft her up on my hip and she takes a big bite out of my shoulder. It was bad! She broke the skin and it looks horrible!

I know there has been a lot of biting topics lately, but what can I do to stop this? The twins have been biting each other too if they don't get what they want. Not nearly as hard as Mikayla bit me.

I'm sorry you got bit! :(

Sorry not much help, but I would love to hear the responses as well.

DD puts her open mouth on DS and I cringe thinking she is going to bite but she never does, thank goodness.

I'd like to know a good solution if it were to start.

Alex will do this occasionally. It is more just out of frustration than anything. If possible, I immediately put him down and say "No Bite!" in a very firm voice. For the most part this works. If I am in a situation as you described and it is not possible to put him down, or that is what he wanted in the first place, I will give a slight "pop" on the mouth. I don't want anyone freaking out about this....I don't hit him. It is open palmed and more like what we would do if we were doing those indian noise things...you know where you making a noise and pop your hand over your mouth several times. Anyways, it is mostly just to get his attention and I again say "No Bite!" in a very firm voice. We have had good success with this and I think he tries to control himself. I have seen him open his mouth to do it and then close it again without biting. They do learn....but sometimes so slowly.

Oh no, sounds like the same thing we have going on here...only they are biting each other that way, not me (yet)...lol. They also do the melt down when I tell them to hold my hand...so annoying!

REagan is my biter (most of the time). She does it out of frustration. She bit Morgan hard on the chest a few weeks back. You can still see where the scabs were at. It was bleeding b/c she broke the skin. If you asked Morgan what happened she says, "Sissy bite" or "Ray ray bite" GREAT! If I catch her doing it she gets a time out, which she HATES!
