Ok. So DD is under the 20 lb mark. She is still 18.5 lbs (compaired to her brothers 24+). She still wears mostly 6-9 months.. She has not really gainedvery much weight in months. At 10 months she was 17.5 lbs.

Anywho.. Does anyone have a tiny baby?

    Thanks..

Oh.. Should i be worried about her? I kinda do everyonce in a while.. But she is "gaining" just very slow.

If the doctor is telling you that your DD is healthy, then you shouldn't worry.......she's just petite. :D

Madelyn is currently 19 lbs 8oz and is now 15 months old - she's gained about 2 lbs in 3 and 1/2 months. Katelyn, her sister is close to 23 lbs and looks "chubbier" or to make it sound nicer...looks "healthier". LOL! Madelyn just looks slimmer BUT eats a lot, sometimes twice as much as her sister. The Peditrician told me that as long as she eats well, is healthy, isn't constantly getting sick (which she doesn't).......then she is just probably petite with a great metabolism and she will be a very happy teenager if her fast metabolism continues.

So I honesly wouldn't worry as long as the Peditrician tells you she's healthy. I know it's easier said than done - but trust me, I was worried too.

BTW: The Pediatrician also said that from 10 months to 24 months, you won't see a lot of weight gain - the noticeable weight gain is during the first year then it slows down because they start to "stretch" plus since they are more active with crawling and walking they burn a lot of calories so don't gain as much weight either. Just an FYI. :D

My Taylor is very, very tiny at her 2 year check up she was 20 lbs. She is growing okay and my pedi doesn't seem to concerned.

I definitely don't have little ones but wanted to say that my niece has always been on the low end. Even at 9, she is only 5% on the weight side of things. My SIL was told that as long as she is growing on a curve (not going down on the charts) not to worry, she's just a little kid. So if the pedi is fine with her progress, I wouldn't worry.

As long as she is staying on her growth curve...dont' worry about it! Reagan was 19 lb. 1 oz. at one year (she was 3 lb. 14 oz at birth). She stayed consistently on her growth curve, so no one was every worried. Plus, she is like in the 90th% for height, so she's very tall and VERY skinny! Even at age 3, she was only 29 lbs. Just to give you an indication, I just had Olivia in for her 6 month appt, she's a whopping 20 lb. 4 oz. Talk about not knowing what's normal...lol!!!! Sounds like your DD is doing just fine!

at 28 mos Abby is only 23 lbs and her brother is only 28 lbs...and she can out eat him in a heartbeat! Pedi says as long as she's healthy, hitting milestones and eats/drinks/eliminates normally than she's probably just a petite child...

At 1 yr my girls were 18 & 19 lbs....so small, but no worries. I am very small framed & petitite. DH is med framed and tall.

So far my girls are tall and small framed!!

Dr is not worried as along as they are growing. At close to 3 yrs they are 27 lbs and 30 lbs. Still skinny and tall....The one that was 18 lbs is now the 30lb girl (and taller), and my 19 lb girl is the 27lb (shorter). So they may change up a bit on you they switched heights on me too....my shorter baby is now my taller girl.

Lily was in the 10% for weight and 80% for height at her 15 month appt. She has always been long and lean. At the 15 month appt. her weight was exactly 20lb. Her brother is 4 pounds heavier than her. She eats like a maniac...I mean, she will eat ANYTHING and EVERYTHING.

The doctor has said that he is not worried, he thinks this is how she is built and meant to be.

I was very lean as an infant, toddler, and teenager. My mom had to put velcro on the top of my pants and the bottom of my shirts so that she could velcro them together to keep my pants from falling down!

    I would not worry.

Another for the underweight but tall group. They're both 32 inches but 21 pounds, which puts her way above the 95% percent for height and 40th for weight, while Royce is at the 95% for height and 30th for weight.

As long as they seem healthy and are hitting milestones, I wouldn't worry.

Mine weighed around that at 12 months, as long as she is following her curve and your pedi isn't worried, I'm sure she's fine. At almost 30 months mine weigh in around 25 and 27.5 pounds, so they are steadily growing.

Thats not a huge difference in percentiles to be concerned about. Mine went from the 50% in weight to below the 3%. Some drop is normal. All my kids are tiny. The highest all my four have ever his is the 40% which is where my oldest son is for weight. My oldest dd is in the 3% for height. One thing to love about it is that they really get to use their clothes instead of outgrowing them fast!! You can see my siggy for how big mine were at 1 and 2...not very. But they are growing now so that for us is a huge milestone! As long as she is eating and not losing weight and still thriving, chances are she is fine. Just get used to people being shocked to finding out how old they really are. Nobody usually believes me!

I worry about the same thing!!

    Addison is 16 pounds
    Ava is 19 pounds

and they are 20 months old!! I have taken them to the pedi and also to the gastro dr. they have had bloodwork done and lots of tests and everything is normal - they are just TINY!!! One thing I do is give them pediasure to drink and add a product called Duocal to their food. My boys were always little tanks so I figured my girls would be big babies also - nope they are petite!!

I had to laugh at this because the boys still fit in their 12 month adjustable waist pants from last spring (was checking what size to buy for this fall/winter)...they are starting to get short but as far as the waist, I can't go any bigger...so I get some extra wear out of them.

Seriously, mine were around the 18-19lb at a year and right at 20 at 15 months and just yesterday at their 18 month check (although they'll be 19 months Saturday), they were 21.5 and 22lbs. Mine have consistently been in the 3rd% for weight and 10th% for height. Mine have fluctuated from as low as just off the curve to up to 8%...those kinds of fluctuations aren't concerning to the ped...may be to you but not them and medically, if she is eating/drinking normally, hitting milestones, appears to be happy, etc, I'd try not to worry (at least too much)!

Just so you know, you are definitely not alone. My kids are a little over 3. My daughter weighs 27 lbs (10%). My son weighs somewhere between 36 and 38 lbs (90%). Big difference! Always has been been. She's just small but quite healthy. Enjoy them!

Count me in too. Both of my girls were just under 19 pounds at thier 15mo check yesterday. Everyone thinks they're 8 or 9 months old. Until they see that they can walk, lol. I worry about it sometimes too, but thier ped is always happy with how they are doing so I try not to let it get to me. And I agree about the clothes thing. My girls had a pair of 3-6mo jeans I bought last fall that still fit in the waist. We wore them as capris this summer. :)

My DD has always been tiny too. She is long and lean as well.. She is 25 months and just made it to 24 lbs. At her 18 mo check up she was still 21. She was 4.1 at birth and her brother was 5.5 He is like 28 lb now. I think my DD is always going to be petite and thats fine with me.

Savannah is about 21 pounds and 32 inches... She is so petite... I don't worry about it to be honest. I know she is healthy and hardly ever sick. :)

Beau is about 33-34 inches and about 26 pounds. They started small so i think they are doing great. :)

I have 4 of 5 tiny kids. They are all barely on the growth charts. My twins who were full term. One was 19 lbs at 12 months and the other was only 17 lbs but both were developing fine. Were walking, babbling and eating fine. Kids just grow at different rates. If everything else in development is ok then do not stress the numbers!!

At 12 months Emilie was 16 lbs. 10 oz and her ped was not worried. Now at 2.5 years old she is about 23 lbs. Her ped has never been worried, she is small and probably always will be, but she eats and is happy and healthy. At almost 8 my oldest DD is only 47 lbs. and she was 9 1/2 lbs when she was born.

[SIZE=10pt]DD is right there with "M" Ashley :p

She is now 18 1/2 pounds and 29 1/2 inches ~ she's a little over 15 months now. She is on the low end of the percentages for both. She eats and eats and eats. In addition to all the food she eats, she drinks more milk than her brother. DS isn't all that much bigger though. He weighs 20 1/2 pounds and is 30 1/2 inches.

I "worry" about their growth at times...but know that they are eating, growing, hitting milestones, etc ~ so try not to let it 'worry' me too long ;)

DH and I are both fairly tall and definitely not petite/small boned either :D

    April :)

I didn't read all the other posts, so forgive me if I am repeating the same thing. My DD was in the 75th percentile from birth to about 9 months old. From 9-12 months, she didn't gain an ounce. At 12 months the doctor expressed concern because she had so dramatically fallen from her curve on the charts. She wasn't quite 18 pounds at that point. We did 3 different blood draws (long story that I won't bore anyone with) only to find no problems. By 18 months she was back up on the charts and continues to be right around the 65th percentile for her age.

She was well past 12 months before she reached 20 pounds. (We kept her rear facing until she reached 20 pounds.) The boys did the exact same thing, except they were always much lower on the charts. By around 9 months it just seemed like they quit gaining weight. One of them lost weight between 9 and 12 months. The doctor again expressed concern, but this time I wasn't interested in any tests. They were healthy, had a good appetite. and everything else was developing normally. They were also much older before we turned their carseats to forward facing. They are now almost 3 and still only weigh 25 and 27 pounds.

Honestly, I think if your DD is eating and doing all the other things a 12 month old should be doing, I wouldn't worry. They start to get so much more physically active that I think it's natural for some babies to slow down on the weight gain. The blood draws for my DD were so horifically traumatic for her that I wouldn't want to put another baby through that unless there was more reason than a slow weight gain. Or else, if the doctor suggests it, I would demand that the doctor do the draw directly from the artery the first time because it's quick, and will most likely be done correctly the first time.

DD was not much over 17lbs at 12 months and is still little but not tiny to me. At this point, DS is a good 7+ pounds heavier.

I worry ALL the time, but so far we have found no cause for concern with our little guy--he is 29 pounds at FOUR years old!!!!!!! His twin brother is about 36, and they have always been far apart in weight. To add to this discrepency..... his two year old sister is now 31 pounds. Yep, she weighs more than him, and is 2 years younger. Yikes.

We think he's just a little guy--we've tried to get him to eat more, done pediasure, etc. but now we're just focusing on "this is who he is" and trying to make sure he's healthy. It's so hard though--he's so LITTLE.

Mine are 13 months. One weighs 19 lbs.(31 inches) The other only 16 lbs.(29 inches) The doctors aren't at all worried because they keep growing. It is funny though. My 1 month old is 11 lbs.(23 inches) She'll catch up in no time.
