My girls are now almost 2 months old. They are still swaddled at night and I'm not sure how long that will last. But when they are out of the swaddle at night how should I expect sharing-the-crib to go? I got a crib divider second hand that I can use, but it looks like you have to take the bumper off the crib to install it and I'm not sure I want to do that. Those of you who have your twins sharing the crib, how does it work? Do they move around too much to let them share un-swaddled? Do they bump into each other? Or maybe they get used to that and do just fine? Do any of you use a crib divider? It seems like the babies could possibly get stuck underneath it. Trying to figure out what the future holds for us - if we're going to have to set up that second crib sooner rather than later. (Would prefer later!)

Ours shared until they were around 4 months with no divider. They stayed pretty still up until then, but once the rolling started we had to separate them. I came in to check on them one night and Gabe had rolled almost on top of Addie and his sleep sack was near her face, thankfully she was sleeping the other direction. That was the last of crib sharing for us. They actually started sleeping much better once they were on their own.

My boys are sharing a crib with no divider, but they are still swaddled. They sleep practically on top of each other, they snuggle closer and closer in the night and then in the mornings I always find them cuddled together. I don't know how they move in those swaddles, but they do!!!

The few times I have left them unswaddled, it has been fists flying and legs pumping, so I don't put them to sleep unswaddled.

my girls will be 3mths nextweek and just lastweek we had to buy a second crib and seperate the girls. They would move all over the place, kicking waking the other baby up. The first night we split them up they have slept so much better. They now move around more then before, we'll go in and find the girls in the corner of their crib or with feet sticking out, they just like to move. I didn't know how it would affect their sleep being seperated but it seems to have helped.

My girls only shared until 7 weeks because one loved to be near her sister but her sister wasn't such a fan of that plan. So we had to separate them.

Our girls shared (the bassinet attachment of the pnp) until they were 3 months and could get out of the swaddle and roll around to kick each other. We moved them into separate cribs but right next to each other. They actually slept better that way.

That said, my SIL's twin boys shared a crib until they were 6 months old without a divider. So I guess all kids are different.

My 2 shared until 6 months, no divider. At that point Jake started rolling around a lot and so I switched them to separate cribs.

i agree with PPs comments. once DDs learned to roll, they were all over each other at night, and one always woke up the other

My twins slept together until they were 2 without a problem.

The first 6 mths they slept in a co-sleeper/with us.
6-12 mths they slept in 1 crib/with us
12mths - 2yrs they slept in a double bed together.

    It was great!

My boys shared a crib until 7 months. We didn't swaddle past the first week and I was amazed at how much a newborn could move with just wiggling. I'd put them down on opposite ends of the crib and they'd be cuddled together when they woke every time. For those first several months, they slept better together and when that started to change, I put them in their own cribs but close together so they could still interact (and that's where they are now).
