Does anyone else share bowls and spoons when feeding your babies? I had someone over and was feeding the twins with the same spoon.. i didn't really think about it until someone seemed horrified by the fact that i was sharing the spoon..

Yes, we've always shared bowls and spoons, I would have a difficult time keeping track of who had what.

We shared (still do) everything. Bottles, pacifiers, spoons, bowls. . .

    1/2 the dishes!

I think if we didn't share, I might go mad! yup, we share everything!
I got the same reaction from my mil...she was horrified when she saw me take a binky out of Ryan's mouth (he was asleep) and plopped it into christopher's....
then she spent the "witching" hour with them, and realized hey, whatever works! haha
they suck on each other's fingers and toes now!@ haha

Yes, and they share pacifiers, sippies, toys, etc. Try keeping toddlers from putting things in their mouths that have been in the other one's mouth. Heck - mine are on a kick right now of putting their sippy, paci, etc. in each other's mouths. It amuses me that someone was horrified by that. I can't imagine putting down the spoon and picking up another spoon. What a waste of energy and time!

The only time we make an effort is when we know one is sick, but by the time you know they've already given it to the other one anyway. It's a lost cause!

The only time I didn't was when they were taking their prevacid capsul.

When I first started feeding them I used seperate spoons. but after they were about 6.5 - 7 months old I started using the same spoon.

we share EVERYTHING! it would be impossible to keep them from swapping spit, so why try with separate spoons?

i think the only people that are horrified by this are non-twin moms.. :D

My two share absolutely everything. It's impossible for me to keep them from sharing sippy cups & I figure if one gets sick they are very likely going to both get sick anyway so I just don't try to stop them.

Yes. My aunt was over last week and started laughing when she saw me feeding the girls. I wasn't paying attention and used the spoon to wipe off the food from Dani's chin and put it in Ellie's mouth. Oops.

lol.. we sharred passies early on.. people would ask if there was seperate ones for seperate babies and i just shrugged, they slept right next to each other so if they were going to catch something they would have already.. now that we are doing cereal i have taken to sharing spoons.. i think i would find it too difficult to have seperate spoons and to keep them seperate.

We share too. Much easier and really? Just how many "germs" could newborns have? LOL

Thanks for the responses - makes me feel normal and not alone! It was actually an Inlaw who seemed horrified.. but they don't have twins.. logically though, they both put the same toys in their mouths all the time, so what is the big deal?

I think it's funny when non-twin people are surprised by our practicality. I mean, if you're breastfeeding, do they expect you to sterilize your nipples between feedings?

Mine share everything also. They still do and are 4 year old. My mil was upset by this also when they were infants. I was bf at the time also. I told her I tandem feed and I switch breasts between the babies their names are not on just one side. She even was upset about that. She thought they should each have their own. Or I should wash in between. She is utterly crazy.

We share just about everything here, tried to do the whole one bowl and spoon each but it was a total waste of time and extra washing up, like i don't do enough already ha My girls will share there colds and illness with or without sharing a spoon.

I guess I am the only idiot that still uses separate spoons....i have done that since I started feeding them with cereal. I guess it really is silly and I breast fed for 4 months but never thought of it that way...I guess since I don't love sharing utensils I was thinking the same for them. It probably would save me time to just use one. I use the same bowl though.

I always use the same spoon.

Whenever my father in law feeds them, he uses different spoons but the same bowl. Makes alot of sense, right? Oh, well. At least he's nice enough to watch the boys and feed them.

Before they could feed themselves- they shared everything! For me, there was no advantage to using 2 of anything (when it came to feeding)- it was way quicker, way easier and it's next to impossible to keep their germs away from each other- so why fumble around with 2 spoons, 2 dishes, etc.

that's me... sometimes I think... whoops I'm sure it'd be better if they got their own dribble in their own mouth...

yep, for us one bowl, one spoon... though sometimes (now that they are older) I give them each a spoon to hold... so I can get the one w/food in their mouth....

that comment about sterilizing breasts between feedings is hysterical!

Heck yeah we do! I figure if they can share a womb, then they can share a spoon. I didn't start out that way though, I kept gas drops separate, pacis separate, etc. Then I was like ok, they're with each other all day every day. Chances are if one gets something the other one will too even if they don't share a thing. If it works for you...do it.
