I was just wondering about feeding both twins with the same spoon. My grandsons are 4 1/2 months old, and both eating off the spoon for their nightly cereal, and their fruits and vegetables. I think it would be so much easier if are feeding them alone to line them up and give one baby a bite, then the next, but I'm not sure it's such a good idea to use the same spoon out of the same bowl. Am I being too overprotective? What do you ladies do?

I have always fed my two with the same spoon. :good: Just think of it this way... once they get a bit older, you won't be able to control what they put in their mouth and more then likely the other one had it in their mouth earlier. Make it easier on yourself and use one spoon.

I always used the same spoon. And still do one the rare occasion that I'm feeding them. It was a ton easier and I figured they were always swapping pacifiers and whatever else, that the spoon didn't matter.

I think I only own 1 spoon lol. Seriously I have never used two spoons, unless someone was helping me.

I guess I'm a but uptight. I now not only feed them with separate spoons, but I keep their food separated, too. I was feeding them out of the same bowl with the same spoon, but it was too difficult to figure out which baby ate how much food, then one of them got really sick and I tried really hard to keep the other one well. That's when I bought some plates with dividers in them and I divide the food on each side of the plate, then feed each baby with his own spoon. I feed them using both of my hands, left hand feeds R and right hand feeds W.

I'm planning to use one spoon too, I mean I have taken bites of my kids ice cream, or shared mine in return, shared drink cups....etc, so I can't see using seperate spoons for the twins.

Unless one is sick or something, then I might use seperate in an effort to keep the healthy one healthy (altho the odds of that happening are pretty slim! :p ).

I use separate spoons but I feed them separately, one after the other as DD is really slow & DS is fast. They share everything else so I guess if one was sick then it wouldnt be long before the other caught it!

Ditto the same spoon! Even if they're sick. That might sound horrible, but what's the point- especially at that age when everything goes into their mouths. There's no way I'm going to be able to keep toys and everything else they touch separate. Now that they're older, though, they're feeding themselves (for the most part) and get their own spoons. They still share plenty of germs, though! They won't share toys, but germs are no problem! :)

In the beginning I'd use different spoons. Mostly cause I was afraid of them getting sick while they were so young. Since about 6.5 months old I've been using the same spoon AND we're currently dealing with our FIRST sickness! And I doubt it had anything to do with using the same spoon ;)

Ditto-pointless to use seperate spoons...if one is sick the other is bound to get sick as well. We are 8 months old and are just now battling our first illness-a cold.

I feed mine with the same spoon. I don't see any harm in them "sharing germs."

Yep, same spoon...they may want their own to play with at times though if you are at a restaurant :D

Same spoon here too. I used to even let Ryan finish off Jake's leftover bottles. They shared paci's too. When they laid next to each other, they sucked each other's hands.

I use the same bowl and the same spoon unless one is really sick. We all just got over nasty flu/colds and I didn't want a merry go round of sickness so I used different bowls/spoons during that but we're back to sharing now. SOOOO much easier and faster! I don't know about others but my two get awfully fussy when they have to wait too long ;)

I share pacifiers and sometimes bottles so I will likely use the same spoon. I am all about what is easiest!

Same spoon, same bowl when I bother to try and feed them because they are all about the finger foods - and bottles are interchangeable (especially now that they are moving around and getting more independent - they love to steal them from each other).

I would have used the same spoon, but I was put off when mine were small (around 4 months) and got thrush from sharing bottles. Ever since, I've been pretty diligent about having separate spoons and bowls. I'm one of the weird people that find it easy to feed 2 babies at the same time. I just use one hand for each bowl and spoon so it speeds everything up.

One bowl, one spoon, two kids sitting side by side with their mouths open like little birds. That's the only way! Don't the kids chew on each other's hands? Share the same teething toys? Heck, mine even finished each other's bottles. Share and share alike!

LOL - that's what I do, too! It works faster for me than sharing spoons and bowls. That way I can keep spooning food into each mouth simultaneously and nobody has to wait. However, I stopped using 2 bowls and just use the divided plates. My boys tend to grab spoons, too, so I keep a stash of spare spoons by me for easy replacement.

Hey I nurse them and they push each other off and steal play "steal the boob" so yes we use one spoon to feed them ...and one spoon in each of their hands because they like to hold them. They are more into self feeding...but when we feed them it is one bowl/plate & one spoon!

    One spoon here!

mostly one spoon (one bowl)... BUT when they start grabbing or turning their heads... I realized they wanted to HOLD their OWN spoons... so now sometimes I come with 3 spoons... 1 for each to hold and 1 for me! when they go to grab my spoon, I swap it out and grab their and spoon it into their mouths!!

good luck for keeping it easy!

Glad I'm not the only one that's done the "shared bottle" thing!

Yup, we were another 3 spooner family. One for each to hold and one to feed them both with. They share binkies, bottles, toys, kiss each other, so spoons were just another thing to share. Of course now, we're up to two forks and two spoons, and they feed themselves and each other. :) And they kiss the dogs and let the dogs lick them, so germs, scherms.

Another vote for the ‘same spoon’. I figure that since my boys tend to steal each others pacifiers and teething toys and even gnaw on each other at times there is really no point in being worried about sharing a spoon.

When I have help feeding the girls, they eat out of two different bowls with two different spoons. However, most of the time I'm feeding them by myself so they eat out of the same bowl with the same spoon - sooo much faster and easier.

Tried using 2 spoons once, seemed like too much work. Have always used 1 spoon since and they also sometimes share sippy cups or finish off each other's bottles...
