Sharing a Pack n Play...

My twins are currently spending most of their time sleeping in the bassinet portion of a regular Pack n Play. They are both pretty small (~ 5.5lbs and 6.5lbs), but I worry about them rolling into the other baby, getting clothing around the nose and mouth. They do not disturb each other, but I find them cuddled up near each other a lot...

What do you do to prevent them from falling into each other? It doesn't help that the PnP seems to have a natural slope from all edges...

    Thanks for any suggestions :)

Edited to add: After just 5 minutes in the PnP, they are curled up near each other again...on their sides, no less! Tonight we are going to try sleeping in the crib, so I won't worry about them rolling into each other. They would have to do somersaults to accomplish that!

At this point I wouldn't worry about it, they are still pretty immobile. My girls shared the bassinet portion of a PNP until they were about 3 1/2 months adjusted and we had no problems. Once they start rolling over, then it will be a different story!

I realized that we are only using about 1/2 of the bassinet portion because the changing table covers the other half...it doesn't really fold-out of the way?! Ugh...

I kind of panicked tonight about SIDS...I have been so overwhelmed and sleep-deprived that I didn't even think about some of the things that we are doing that might cause concern. Another is using Swaddle Me blankets on Keegan who is roughly 6.5 lbs...they are a little too big and keep coming up near his face!!! I am so paranoid about this now...and it doesn't help that it is 11:30pm at night and DH is upstairs trying to get caught up on sleep.

So I have babies that are snuggling with each other in the PnP and swaddling blankets that are causing me concern

Mine slept in a shared PnP and kept moving toward each other, too. They were fine, and I only really started to worry about it when they were starting to be mobile.

I can't address the blanket you have since I'm not sure how thick it is, but we used recieving blankets that sometimes got close to their mouths, and they could still breathe ok.

I hope your DH got some sleep last night, and that you didn't spend the night worrying, so hopefully got some sleep yourself. There are so many things that are easy to worry about at this age. :hug99:

We also used receiving blankets to swaddle in the beginning and they did come up around their face, and we didn't have any problems. We also used some swaddle blankets that were a little big as well, I never even thought to worry about it, I just tried to make sure it wasn't covering their face, but if it crept up a bit I didn't panic.
Hopefully it will be your turn to get some sleep soon!

We started using sleep positioners early on. Maybe this will help with the slope you mentioned.

I agree with this. We still put ours in the pack n play during the day and in the crib at night. Regardless of where there are put to sleep we always find them cuddled up next to each other.

Hi, Sarah. We were in a similar situation as what you're doing. For the first 3.5 months I had them sleeping together in their PNP. We had the same kind as you that has a changing table attached so we only had the remaining space available. We didn't use the Swaddle Me blankets until we moved them to their separate cribs (they just seemed too huge on them!). Instead, we used receiving blankets and swaddled them with their arms out (they couldn't stand to have arms restricted). Maybe if you just use a regular receiving blanket it will make you feel more comfortable? I really don't think you should worry as it will be some time before they can actually roll around. Congrats on your babies!!

I forgot to add that we ALWAYS had their sleep positioners in their PNP ... I think you will find that helps a lot too if you're not already using them.

You can get preemie size Swaddle mes!! I used these for Maya for about a month.

I also worry when they roll into each other in the PnP, but we only use it in the living room for some naps. We have the co-sleeper for nights and it is perfect- no slope!
