When did you have your nursery set up? I'm getting anxious, but don't want to do it too early and don't want to wait.

Actually, I don't think 27w along is too early. I think it might be pushing it, actually! I'd start NOW if I were you!

I am going to start in March, probably. Right around the 22w mark. I HAVE to start early because we have a two level house and it is going to take a while for me to get everything done. I get SO OUT OF BREATH just walking up the stairs, so I will have to take it easy.

We had all the major stuff done by 20wks - we and you will have enough to deal with if the babies come early!! Plus, I wanted to make sure we were prepared for our baby showers, and had a place to start stacking diapers!!

Go for it! As the weeks go by, you will get more and more uncomfortable....so do it now. I am 28+ weeks and we are going to begin painting, etc. this weekend. Our twins will bunk with our 2 yr old right now, but the room needs to be completely re-done, since my 2 yr old just switched rooms with his sister and his room is now pink! I already feel like we are behind with so much to do. Good luck and have fun!!!

We have it started...it was our guest room, so I still have the bed in there. I have one crib , changing table , some shelves, and a book case all built. So we're not too far behind, just not complete.

Another question- two cribs from the start? Should I bother with having the other one built now? When would they typically switch to their own crib?

I'm in my 31st week and we've had our room painted and new carpet in there for a couple of weeks now. Our furniture was ordered over a month ago and should be in any day now. The closet is also set up with shelving and organizers in there. My last shower is this Sunday so we are planning to start washing everything after that.

As soon as we found out we were having b/g twins, we went and ordered cribs, which I guess would be around 16 weeks if I remember correctly. Around 20 weeks we painted the nurseries (our kids are in separate rooms). My DH had a two week business trip scheduled to Austrailia around 25 weeks and he wanted to have everything set up before he left.

Our kids have slept in separate cribs since the 1st night they came home from the hospital. We tried keeping them in the same crib the 1st night, but they kept waking each other up, so DH and my mom separated them and they have been that way ever since.

Go for it!! I felt great and had lots of energy until about 29 weeks. I wish we had our nursery done, but we haven't finished renovating it yet, should be getting close to done in the next week or so. Luckily there is room in our room to have the playpen and all their clothes are sorted and put away there for now.

I am 27 weeks and we actually just put the cribs together last night and are getting ready next weekend to paint the room. We already have the bedding. My shower is in 3 weeks so I wanted the room done by then so i could organize everything for my lil guys

We started setting it up once we found out the genders at 18 weeks. I hate putting things off.

Everything was done around 24 weeks. We wanted it done in case they came early. That way I wouldnt have that to worry about as well as 2 preemies. Turns out it as done in plenty of time.

It was nice to bring them home to a done room.

We set up ours at 22 weeks or so, so I don't think it is too early at all to get started. Never know when you will end up on bedrest or if babies will come early. Also, I have been so uncomfortable these last few weeks I am not sure that I would have the energy/desire to set things up now...

We've had it done for a few weeks now. I got the two cribs at the same time cause I wanted them to match. I plan on having them in the same crib for 3 months or so..but plans change.

I did mine last year on my weeks vacation. We were just planning and going through IVF, and because of my work hours at times I didn't know if I would of had time, so we did it early. Lots of garage sales. :)

When should I get a second crib though? I know ppl put both in one crib for awhile but for how long?

i'd say 24 weeks is a good time to get started with the crib at least purchasing it, i'd say i'd have it all done by 31 weeks, at the latest probably earlier in case you arent feeling up to it.. I dunno when we are gonna do our babies. LOL they'll be sharing a room with my son, dont wanna move in on him yet.

I am so glad that we were pretty much 'done' with the nursery by the time I was 30 weeks because after that it became so much more difficult to find the energy...so go for it :) I have heard mixed things about the second crib. We set up both, since it seems like all babies are different, some do better separated and some do well together.

    The earlier the BETTER!!!
I waited too too long & was so frustrated that I wasn't able to have the energy to do anything - it was just way too difficult towards the end (and I ended up being on bedrest for 3 weeks) to even put laundry away let alone get the nursery ready. I had to direct my DH on how I wanted things done & it was super frustrating since I am a control freak!!

I agree - don't wait! I am having a hard time right now (only 30 weeks) just trying to get all the clothes washed and put away. We have our one crib set up already and don't plan to buy another one until after they get here - we can always use the PnPlay if they need to be separate. Just getting everything put away is a big enough job at this point - I'm really glad all the big stuff is done!

We started painting and everything pretty early. Then we set up cribs and everything when I was about 25-27 weeks. We went ahead and got 2 cribs because we knew we would need them eventually, and I didn't want to deal with it later. Plus, most stores give you a twin discount if you buy 2 at the same time.

I am SO GLAD I got most everything done before 30 weeks because I wa feeling fine up until now. Now I am super tired and can't do too much!

I agree to do it now...you'll enjoy it more if you are not stressed/too tired. Good luck! Post a picture if you can! :)
