Oh my one of my boys (twins) are going to put me in an early grave. I am trying to get things ready for my oldest sons birthday party and one of the twins is crying everytime I move out of eyesight. I remember my oldest doing this when I would leave the house without him but just from the kitchen to the family room. The room is even connected you just can't see me because of the sectional. Oh he is driving me crazy. How long will this last? It has already been a week or so.
Sorry I guess it became more of a vent.

I'm sorry Cari. I haven't had much trouble with this, but I wanted to :8714bumper: this up so hopefully you'll get some replies. Hope it doesn't last too long.

Sorry to say, for us this is still going on to some extent (just with one twin -- Amy). It's getting a bit better at 19 months, but sometimes she still gets upset if I leave the room, especially if she wasn't expecting it -- and even if Daddy is still right there. I try to minimize the # of times I have to do it, which means she comes with me to the bathroom, stands nearby while I change Sarah's diaper, etc. But I also know that she is usually just fine within 2 minutes after I leave, so I don't think I'm scarring her for life or anything.

This is not exactly what you asked, but is there any way you could move the sofa so he can see you when you're in the kitchen? Just that one thing might eliminate half the times that he cries, at least.

    Good luck!

For us it has come and gone in the form of a phase. My two are pretty social, but sometimes there is clingyness, so I can't really relate to the "all the time" anxiety. :hug99:

We've gone thru the stage about 3 times now. It will pass I promise although I know it doesn't seem like it will at the time.
Each time I think lasted a couple of months

My kiddos were doing fine until about 14m old. My son is usually ok when I leave daycare, but my DD has been throwing a fit since then. So far it is lasting 2 months and counting. Sorry. :(

I watched 'Oh Baby!' last night and it said that separation anxiety varies from child to child some don't get it at all but it is healthy. It goes from 8 to 18 months. My girl was right on schedule at 8 months and now at 11 months she is still going. The boy, not so much.

Like Nicole said, it comes in fits and starts.

Mel had it bad bad bad at around 16 months -- I could not be out of her sight -- oh and it lasted well, like well, maybe a couple months that time. I think she had another bout at around 2 years -- totally totally freaking out when I left for work. Lately she's kinda independent, says goodbye nice and greets me wonderfully at the end of the day.

Jade didn't have it earlier. Actually, she's only become a mommy's girl in the last couple months but now she's got it BAD. Bad bad bad.

But it's good to be so loved I guess.
