My son and DIL have 20 month old twins - a boy and a girl. The girl - Jasey - is pretty laid back and easy going. The boy - Jackson - tends to be more fussy. He is going through a stage where he cries even if his mother leaves the room. If she goes outside, he literally screams. It's heartbreaking. Most of the time no one else can pacify him, sometimes not even Daddy. Any suggestions? We are desperate for help! Thanks.

I have the same problem, in reverse. My DS is very laid back while my DD is the very "clingy" one. Most of the time, I just go ahead & take her but there are times when I need to let someone else hold her. Or, this weekend I ended up being sick & couldn't hold her. What I do sometimes is just walk out of the room (while someone else has her, like DH) and wait about 5 min. Usually, she'll calm down once I'm out of sight. I'm always listening, though, and if she's still upset after a few min, I'll go back. But, it's like if I'm in the same room as her she just has to be in my arms. It's hard sometimes, but I've heard it's something they do grow out of......plus, I try to remind myself that very soon I'll be wishing for these days again, when she doesn't want me around! :)

My guys are 2.5 yrs old, and My Jack is like that still. Zackary is fine if I leave them room or go outside... but if I leave the room or go outside and Jack notices, he goes into hysterics. He literally cries, screams, and starts shaking... it is sad.

My girls are 19.5 months and Amy is the same way. She is usually OK with DH, but with other people (even family members she sees all the time), she has a fit if I'm out of sight. But if I just have to leave her with someone else, she almost always calms down in a minute or so, unless she's really tired or already mad about something. Does your grandson keep screaming for mommy even after 5 minutes or so?

I have tried to take other moms' advice to just ride it out and keep Amy with me as much as possible -- though it's hard, because I feel like I hardly ever get to hold Sarah. But I'm told this separation thing should be easing up soon, fingers crossed.
