For the last few days I've had a few episodes of seeing spots. They aren't dark...more like a ring or area of sparklies/rippling water. I've had a slight headache too, but it could maybe be sinus issues. Yesterday I saw the spots for about an hour and the same the day before. Today I just saw them again for about 25 minutes. I took my blood pressure yesterday and it was normal, maybe even kind of low on the bottom number. I've been resting a lot, drinking enough, etc. Has anyone else had this? I talked to the nurse this morning and she said to call if it happened again, so I just did and am waiting for her to call back. Don't know if they'll have me come in or not since it goes away and I'm not having any pain anywhere else, etc. Could LOW blood pressure cause these kind of symptoms?

The only time I get those is when I am starting to get a migrane. But it's never everyday, more like once a month or so.

Same here about the migraines, for me it was always around that time of the month so probably hormone related?

I haven't had that exactly but I have had a lot of light headedness and dizziness. Mine is probably due to the Procardia but the meds lower my blood pressure so it may have something to do with your bp being a little low. I asked my doctor about headaches and he said it is because of the increased blood flow and volume. Same reason for overheating. I would just keep an eye on it, at least your pressure is a little low and not too high :)

I had this on friday and was starting to get a head ache..which i thought would tuen out to be a migraine. (but i've only ever had a few in my life) I thought mayeb i was too hungry so i ate lots and the spots seemed to go away...but the headache lasted all night.
Unrelated i went to the hospital for a non stress test on sunday....and it turns out i have preeclampsia symptoms. and the blurred spotty vision is a symptom/ as well as high blood pressure and high protien in the urine. so I am just peeing in a bucket for 24 hours and they will further test it.
I would call your doc if it's at all concerning. i thought nothing of it...but then, maybe i shouldn't have!

I had this during my pregnancy with Liam. They diagnosed it as migraines. Let us know what the nurse says.

I Have this everyonce in a while. I dont know what its from either. I normally have a slight headache but no migrane. I dont really worry about it unless it makes you faint. I normally eat and then it will go away.

I had spots and headaches with preeclampsia. Given that you have had some bp issues lately Im glad you called. In the beginning of preeclampsia and PIH your bp will likely be labile, which means it will be up and down, that is why they give you a six hour period to have only 2 high bps for a diagnoses of pre-eclampsia. I would hope they would bring you in for monitering to see just what your bp is doing over the course of a few hours. You also need labs drawn to see how your kidney and liver function is doing.

Well, the nurse called back and said if the headache and spots return I should go in to be checked. So far I feel okay. The "spots" went away today after I ate something so maybe it's related to that? Had my blood pressure taken today by a nurse technician (someone we're staying with right now) and it was fine.

Melissa,

I have been having spots and waving in my peripheral vision, and I am thinking that it has something to do with gestational diabetes. I failed my 1hour a week ago, and am going for my 2 hour tomorrow, so i'll see if thats what it is.

Don't be too alarmed though, it could be nothing....I find my eyes are super sensitive to sunlight right now, and hopefully it goes away after I deliver.

I am glad to hear that the spots went away. During all of my pregnancies I have seen spots on and off almost the whole pregnancy. I don't get them with headaches I get them and feel lightheaded though. With me it never has been connected to anything - though with my 1st pregnancy I was induced because my blood pressure sky rocketed at 38 weeks and I got pregnancy induced hypertension. Just one of those things that sometimes we have no idea what it is but we need to take care of ourselves and always call the doc to make sure. :)

I had an episode with a sparkly circle moving around in my field of vision and a headache and dizzy feeling early on in this pregnancy and sitting with my head between my legs and then eating something helped, although the headache lingered for the afternoon. It turned out that my blood pressure was really low and my morning sickness meant my blood sugars were low too. It hasn't happened again yet but I always carry a packet of lollies with me to suck on if I feel lightheaded. I also had a few similar episodes towards the end of my first pregnancy and each time my blood pressure was very low. But every time it happened I got worried about pre-eclampsia and got checked out just in case. (My blood pressure has been around 90/60 so far this pregnancy).
So it may just be low BP but it pays to be cautious as pre-eclampsia is best avoided!!
