Ben and Emmy have been having problem sleeping lately and I was thinking about getting them a security/lovey item. I was curious what are your children's "loveys(sp?)"
    Thanks!

Both of mine go to bed with a blanket, a soft Elmo and Ben has a Mickey and Sarah has a Minnie 6in-beanie. Ben could care less what's in the bed with him. He actually throws everything overboard. Sarah is in LOVE with her Minnie and it has just recently really become her lovey  so much so I was thinking the other day I better get back to TRU and pick up a spare just in case!!

Both of mine have a lovey, teddy bear and a little teething cloth they've had since they were born. The lovey bear is their fav though when they wake up from nap they have to bring it downstairs with them and won't leave go even during lunch...eventually they leave on the floor while playing and I put them back in their cribs. I wash it every week as I have a second one I switch every week when I change sheets.

Maggie has a duck she is still pretty attached to. Jackie has one blanket she loves. Beth has not attached to anything yet. Maybe I'll have it easy with one of mine?

If they are going to attach to something - buy a second one, quick! Maggie actualy has 3 ducks but never knew that until recently. Jackie's banket has been discontinued, so getting it washed it tricky. Having one to switch out makes it a lot easier.

Both have lovey's (actually Brendan has two) which they affectionately call Boo Boo Bears. They each also have a sooft doll, Brendan's is a baseball player and Kaleigh's a little baby in pink. All from target.

We had two security items: their pacifiers and blankets. But we ditched the pacifiers in the summer... but the blankets go every where we go! In fact those blankets are so disgusting that I bought a second set-- and would you believe they won't go near the nice, clean, soft new ones!!

Annie (4) has her "sleepy blanket," one of the approx. 12 inch square blankets that are soft (cotton) and silky (satin) on the other. She's slept with hers since she was around a year. Now she can handle it when she loses it around the house. It's been gone for about a month now. She finds something else as a replacement.

Joey (2 1/2) has a large afgan type blanket that I knitted for her before she was born. DH put it in her crib before she could get attached to her small blanket like Annie's, so that's her special blanket. Too big, if you ask me. I prefer small so they can drag it around the house with tripping on it.

Ellie (1 1/2) has a small yellow blanket like Annie's and a receiving type (thin cotton) blanket in her crib. She's not actually attached to either at this point. To get to sleep she sucks her thumb.

Good luck! I recommend something small, and ditto PPs about getting multiple items once they decide. I've never actually had to do that, but my sister has.

We introduced snuggly (lovey) at about 6 months, but were not attached to them until about 12-13 months. I liked the Taggie blankets, but felt they weren't a good size, so I made them some that were 18 x 24. It was perfect for a lap blanket in the stroller/car seat last winter. The best part about them getting attached to something I made is that I made back ups and have been using them interchangeably the entire time so to them there is no difference.

Nick has gotten so attached to his that it is not unusual to see him trotting around the house carrying 3 of the 4 snugglies. I keep putting it back in his bed, and he keeps coming back out with it. Here's a pic of Nick with his (long before he ever got attached to it).

I like them so much that I'm making the boys some bigger, stay-in-the-crib blankets and pillowcases for Xmas (we have yet to introduce blankets/pillows). I took the boys with me to the fabric store and let them help pick out the fabric. We felt lots of wonderfully soft fabric and even got some that looked like Big Bird & cookie Monster. :) I know the boys will love them b/c ever since they were crawling all we have to do is say "SNUGGLY!" and lay down a big, fuzzy blanket and they'll scamper over to snuggle their face into its warmth. I love it.

Mine both have a little blanket that has a bear head on it. So it is part stuffed animal, part blanket. I think we got them at the Carters Store. I call it thier softie and they get it when they go to bed. It stays in the bed and they know when I hand it to them it's bed time. They also have a soft blanket in their beds to cover them up with.

Alyssa has a cuddly rabbit that she calls Bunny (very imaginative, lol). Bryony, Naomi and Luke all have muslin cloths, B calls hers snuggle N and L call theirs rags (N and L also have pacis as a security item to some extent).

Alyssa and Bryony both actually changed their 'loveys' a while back-sometime around their third birthday I think-A used to have a patchwork bear that she called panda and B had a pink bear called fluffy. It was useful as there were two of both bears because they had been given one each of the same at some point and picked different favourites. Then one of the panda's mouth came un-stitched and after that A refused to have anything to do with either of them. B gradually started choosing more cuddly toys to sleep with (A did too, but Bunny is the firm favourite). She does still have the pink bear in bed with her, but now he is one of about eight and she doesn't play with him anymore.

I agree with the pp's who said pick something small, get more than one and switch them around from the beginning.

They chose their lovies, and ironically they each chose the same thing. My friend got them each a nice PBK blanket when they were born that they love. My SIL got them each a silky Carter's blanket when they were born that they love even more. And my other SIL got them each a stuffed animal for their first birthday that they fell in love with (a cat and a frog) over time.

So they each have one stuffed animal, two blankies, and countless binkies that they haul around all over the house. It is ridiculous.

Amy has a duckie and Sarah has a bunny. They are both those stuffed-animal-blanket things, with a little blanket that is soft/silky and an animal head attached. My SIL gave us those as baby gifts, though we waited till 6 months to put them in the cribs.

Independently, they also chose secondary loveys. Sarah has a pink bunny that says "Peekaboo! I see you!" when you squeeze its tummy. And Amy started demanding (around 9 months) to take a couple of little terrycloth drool bibs to bed. So now she gets duckie + two bibs, and Sarah gets bunny + pink bunny. Bunny & duckie do not ever leave the cribs, but pink bunny and the bibs can get carried around.

I crocheted a baby blanket for each of them while I was still pg, and that blanket has become Zoe's "night night". She is completely in love with it, but I'm so glad it's the blanket I made b/c if something ever happened to it I can make another one.

For Johnny, it's probably his binkie most of all. After that, he has a super soft teddy bear that he loves to cuddle & hug.

Both my girls have blankets that are very soft and one with a bunny head and the other a lamb, my mom got them at Nordstroms before they were born and they love them. They are bigger then the little lovies. Harlie has also made her clifford stuffed dog a security item lol.

Both of the boy's have had blankies since they were about a year old. When we finally had enough of Keagan coming to bed every night with me, we took them to Build a Bear and let them pick out what animal they wanted. Then we recorded mommy and daddy's voice to put in them. That way they could hear us whenever they wanted. At first it just made Keagan more upset but now he can't sleep without it. Hope that helps!
