Logan didn't have any trouble with any of his other teeth. He was one of those that would fuss one night and wake up with two new teeth. Mason was completely opposite for those that are hating me at the moment. Anyway, we are on day 3 of fussing, fever, not sleeping, drooling like a faucet, etc. Mason hasn't started to get his and I'm only expecting his to be worse. So, I know it hasn't been long, but I was just wondering - How bad was it for you? Was it days or weeks? Anything other than Motrin, Tylenol, teething tablets, cold chewys, Orajel that can help?

I'm in the midst of it and it's been going on for months it seems like. There are bad days and better days, today was definitely a bad day, but Royce finally cut one of the molars (I think, I felt it but then it was gone later.) I give Alice and Royce motrin when they're really really upset and achy.

In fact, Royce hasn't been eating at all, only drinking milk for a few days. :(

We are JUST starting to deal with it now and its been awful. Ana is a trooper and never really complained for any other teeth, but even she is having a hard time with these, and is chewing on her hands a lot. Meara, on the other hand, has always been my spirited child, and she is just not doing well. Very clingy, whiney, needy, and just plain unhappy. Poor punkin. Thankfully Ana's have all partially erupted so hopefully the end is near for her. But unfortunately Meara's are still not thru so the torture continues (for her :( and us).

Aiden is like your Logan. I didn't even know he had his 1 year molars til he yawned one day & I saw them! Conner, however, is the WORST teether. Ugh.

Aiden's bottom two 2 year molars popped through about a month or so ago. No issues at all, just saw them. One of his top ones JUST popped through & he's fine. Eating, sleeping, happy as can be. He's so awesome.

Conner's haven't popped through. We'll have DAYS of misery where I SWEAR it has to be his teeth, but they STILL haven't popped through. He's getting to the age where he can tell me & he'll tell me "Owwie mouth, owwie cheek, owwwie teeth, etc etc". I can feel them underneath his gums & have noticed that some days his gums are swollen & others they aren't. He comes & goes with eating/chewing/poorly sleeping/etc. I swear, this child will never get those darn molars & he'll continue to whine about it until he's 10 :).

That being said, I'm a nurse & we've been seeing LOTS of kids with sore throats lately. Most kids this age cannot express that their throat hurts, but it can be seen when the doctor looks in there (Conner was the same a few weeks back & I never knew!). There are SOOO many bugs going around that the fussy, not eating, & drooling could be caused by a nasty sore throat, body aches, etc that come with the virus.

So, yes, it might be his teeth. But, it could also be a bug. Keep an eye on him & if he doesn't seem to spunk up, it might be worth a trip to the doc to check out his throat (Conner got a strep test, but it was negative). In the meanwhile, whether it's teeth or not, I always recommend Motrin. It's an anti-inflammatory that will help with teething, fevers, body aches, etc etc...thus covering any option out there :)!

Good luck...hope he either feels better soon or pops out some shiny new teeth!!!!

He does have a bit of a bug at the moment and that's not helping anything. He keeps waking up through the night though and I think that's the teeth. I do know they are coming through at least one has broken the surface and DH says another is mostly through. I haven't managed to be able to tell much it's all I can do to get the numbing gel in there without getting bit or him screaming like crazy. Motrin usually works best for him, but this time the Tylenol seems to be helping more. I timed it tonight so he got the Tylenol right at bed time. Hopefully we can all get a little sleep before he gets going.

MONTHS...It has been going on for months! We had sleep issues for about a month. That has gotten some better, but still having irritability, drooling, chewing on stuff, not wanting to eat a whole lot, etc... This, by far, has been the worst as far as teething goes. We still do Orajel when things get really bad and motrin when it starts affecting the sleep. I also find giving them something cold to eat (popsicles) helps too.

I was told that with molars, oragel doesn't really help. I guess it is worth trying, but I could never get that stuff on the right spot. Good luck. I'm glad they don't remember getting teeth!

Months for us. And it really was terrible when they finally broke through. My girls had bleeding gums, fever, running noses, and I just wanted to cry for them. The breaking the skin was the worst part, they were in so much pain. We did motrin and tylenol and Hylands teeting tablets for night time to get us through it, but it was really pretty bad here. [IMG] to all of you going through it right now.

Second molars are AWFUL!!! :bad: For one of my girls it was days (who was a super easy teether otherwise) and for the other one (who doesn't yet have all 4) it was about 2 weeks.

It lasted for months! Jackson finally has all of his, but Jacob has yet to actually get the last set of molars (he's been working on it for a couple months, though). I know how hard this time is. It sounds like you're doing everything you possibly can.

Popsicles! I hadn't thought of that and they love them. I will have to try that tonight. It's just so strange to see my independant little wild man so clingy and whiny. Guess I better stock up on medicine, sounds like we have a long way to go.

    Thanks everyone

Nowhere near as horrendous for us as first year molars. It actually hasn't been that bad. They're through now and have been. My boys had theirs by the time they were 15 months old. One yr molars were HORRIBLE!!!!!! It didn't help that they were really early teethers and had their one yr molars by 11 mos or so. Too little to tell me ANYTHING!

2 yrs aren't as bad cuz they can TELL you what is up.

Good luck. Teething is NO fun and YES Motrin- not Tylenol for the anti inflammatory properties.

Both of my kids were easy teethers. The canines and the 2-year molars (which they actually got sometime between 2.5 and 3) were the only ones that really bothered them. But with the molars, it was always hard to tell whether that was bothering them or whether they were simply toddlers. When babies teeth, you can tell they are fussier than usual, but with toddlers, it usually takes the form of extra tantrums, and you never know what the problem is. We did give Tylenol or Motrin if they seemed really unhinged, and often it would help.

It was a pretty long process in that we had no idea when the teeth actually came in. I know they were in for sure by their 3-year checkup, but only the doctor could confirm that, because the kids would never let us look in their mouths.

Logan's came on through so he's much happier now. I think there are more to come, but at least it isn't as intense at the moment. Also seems to be getting over his cold. Yay!!

Mason on the other hand has started up. I can't believe they are going to do this at the same time. I really wasn't expecting that. I can't see anything or feel anything in Mason's mouth, but he says his teeth hurt. He spit out fruit and a bite of banana saying it hurt. Those are favorites, so I'm pretty sure it hurts! :( He's just pitiful and miserable. Tears, snot and drooling like a faucet.
