well we went for our follow up today. he lost 4oz in 5 days, but his u/s came back normal so now we go for an upper GI, and she fave us samples of enfamil nutrimegin (spelled that wrong). i was worried he wouldnt take it cuz he started refusing the alimentum so we switched to goodstart, then all these problems started. but he seems to like the new stuff and im hoping the screaming goes down, and the spitting up lessens, AND the eczema goes away. am i asking for too much? lol. does anyone have a baby on this stuff? ive noticed the spitup is almost clear now..is that normal??

We tried Nutramigen (sp?) on A. He liked it better than the Allimentum. And it stunk less. He also spit up less. But he wasn't the miracle new baby I had been hoping for. He still had nasty reflux that only more meds really seemed to address. We eventually went back to Enfamil Gentleease (beacuse it was cheaper, and he tolerated it just as well).

What did your GI show? Anything come up abnormal? Were there able to see the reflux?

 I don't have any advice about the formula, but Ana used to spit up clear sometimes too (when she had nothing in her to spit up or was drooling a lot because of teething). I hope they figure this all out soon for your lil pumpkin. Keep us posted.

We used Alimentum which I know you know is the same as Nutramigen and everything got much better as soon as we switched to a special formula. We started with Nutramingen but ours like Alimentum better. I hope this will make him feel better and that's great that the ultrasound was normal. Hang in there. You have a lot on your plate right now.

Both of the boys had an upper GI. B acted like it was field trip with lots of new things to check out and took it all in stride - "ooohhh a big camera - do I need to smile?" A on the hand was starving and little irritated that they kept taking the barium away from him while he was FINALLY getting to eat something! I swear he said "Don't you people know I am starving!?!?! FEED ME!!!" And he wasn't crazy about being held relatively still on the table when they weren't letting him eat and he let them know - loudly. But each time they plopped the bottle back in he was fine again. He polished off all 60mls of the barium. The dr. told us most kids only take about 20 and that's because they are so hungry. A would have probably started on another bottle if they would have let him. All in all it wasn't a big deal for either of them.

The GI didn't really tell us too much that we didn't already know or suspect. No physical abnormailities (which of course is good, and what we went to rule out). And wow, that was some pretty spectacular reflux especially on A. Poor kid.
