Hi, Anyone have babies who scream in their sleep. Both of my girls will start screaming their heads off while sleeping and they don't open their eyes. I can pick them up, rock them, and try and put in pacis and they still just scream. They are waking each other up an making me crazy. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas? Upset tummies? Anne.

Ooooh...DS used to do this. We never found a good solution, but he grew out of it.

My one DD just went through a week of this. I could never figure out anything to make it stop. It was short lived-thank goodness.

It happens to one of my sons all the time! I don't know what causes it, whether he has nightmares? or teething/growing pain or just getting sick? But I pick him up, rock him for a good few minutes before he calms down, then I put him back to his crib.

One of my sons does this and he has reflux. I can tell he is in pain and he often spits up and cries after the screaming. He usually calms down quickly and back to peaceful sleeping within a minute or two.

One of mine does this too pretty regularly; picking her up and soothing her seems to make it worse, so I just watch her and pat her back a little until she settles down again. My doctor said that many babies do this and that there is little to do about it, it is a kind of nightmare which sometimes is called pavor nocturnus. If it happens regularly just make sure that there is no pain or hunger causing these episodes and that the baby cannot hurt itself or its twin when moving abruptly during these episodes. GL, it is miserable to watch.

Sam started doing this a few weeks ago - it happens usually once during the night. I go in now and just give him a paci without picking him up or disturbing him and he calms down. I think because he sleeps on his back, he can't reach and find his paci and he freaks out. We did sleep training a while ago, but this started a few weeks afterwards. I'm hoping he will start sleeping on his belly or maybe he will outgrow it.

DS does this. He started about 9 or 10 months and still does it. Picking him up makes it worse. Sometimes we just let him cry and he falls back to sleep and other times we rub his back (if he's taking a long time to calm down. I've been told that this is similar to sleep walking or sleep talking in older kids.
