for past 1.5 wks, Syd screams at bathtime. she doesn't want to go in the tub (whether or not there is water in there). I've tried getting in the tub with them (didn't help). She just all out screams until you get her out and calm her down.

this has happened a few times in the past with each of them. but it's been resolved in less than a week. and i don't remember it being THIS intense.

what do i do? besides never bathing the child again???? thx.

Johnny's been like that a couple times & I eventually figured out that the water was too hot for him. It felt fine to me & Zoe was happy with it, but for some reason he's more sensitive to hot. And he would just freak out for about 2 weeks after a bath when the water wasn't cool enough.

Otherwise, do you have another shower you can use? We've got 2 bathrooms & the master bath has just a big shower......sometimes when he didn't like the tub, the shower was a little easier for him. (I had to be in there with him, of course.)

Both of my kids have gone through spurts like this. I wish I had some stellar advice to offer. We just did it as fast as possible, long enough to wash their hair and bodies. It always resolved itself on its own. Hang in there.

The only thing I can think of is to offer some fun tub toys. Explain to her before that you are going to do these things.. in the tub. Maybe tell her you are going to blow bubbles. Get her situated and then blow them towards her to make it something she looks forward to.

You might try bath crayons or coloring tabs. My girls love these. Jessy has gone thru periods too of this and some times requires great convincing to bathe

Yep, we've tried toys, bath crayons, shower, getting in there, bubbles, adjusting temp, etc.

she is getting a tooth or maybe a molar so she's got her hand in her mouth alot. also, she's just generally the more sensitive of the 2.

the only other thing i can think of is trying to change the time of day instead of near bedtime. maybe she's overtired? but she's been sleeping and napping fairly well... and then will stay up for 1-2 hours playing before falling asleep.

thx and i'm open if anyone has any other ideas to share.

My girls have always been water monkeys so I didn't have to deal with this but have you considered not giving her a baby every day? I'm sure it's really stressful on you to deal with the screaming every night and most dirt at that age can be cleaned with a wash cloth. How did your idea to move bath time work out?
