    Hi,

My girls just turned 1. Right about that time Abby has been screaming in her baths. Prior to that baths were her favorite thing. Now she stands up, screams and clings to me. What's going on?

    Thanks,
    Darla

Do you do bubbles? Does the water make bubbles? My girls love bath time but if their soap makes bubbles- they freak! They just started this not too long ago.

This didn't happen to us (at least not yet), but several of my friends have mentioned it around 12-18 months. They just develop a sudden fear of something about the bath. The good news is that they usually get over it within several weeks, but in the meantime (if you can't figure out some way to make it better) you just get it over with as quickly as possible.

Thanks for replying! The screaming starts before we do anything so no bubbles. She goes in the water fine, then very shortly gets very upset.

Yes, it is a phase and my kids have gone through it a couple of times! When they do it, I just get them cleaned very quickly and get in and out. Eventually they want to stay in longer. Try a new bath toy, that has worked for us too.

Hmmmm...we are going through the same exact thing right now. Arwen used to LOVE bath time. She would get right in and start splashing around and try to get away when we tried to take her out. Then all of a sudden it was like she dreaded it. She'd cry as soon as put her in and cry most of the time until we took her out. The very last time we bathed her (2 days ago), it wasn't as bad. She started having some fun again and actually tried to run from me when I went to get her out. My girls both seem to hate the whole tipping back thing when we need to rinse their hair so I was thinking that is why she is dreading bath time?? Then I was thinking , maybe she hated it because she hated the part when she had to get out (she used to throw a tantrum when I'd take her out). I have no clue and tonight is bath night so we'll see what happens tonight.

Amber has done this when she has diaper rash or a yeast infection or something bothering her skin and the water irritates it or hurts or burns.

I totall agree. We had at least one of these phases. I think it went away after a couple of weeks.

We've had a couple of those phases, but it usually passes pretty quickly, and in the meantime, we just hurry through the bath as quickly as possible. Good luck!

Regan went throught this about that time. We thought it had to do with switching to the big bath tub, so we went back to using the smaller inflatable tube for a while. After a couple of weeks, we put them back in the big tub together and she was fine. They generally love their baths and have a great time. I think it was just a phase that she quickly got over.
