I saw my doctor today and they are scheduling my c-section for February 8th. I'll be 37 weeks and 3 days. I was really hoping to go to 39 weeks but my doctor says it's safer for the babies to be born during this time frame because they share a placenta. I'm trying to prepare myself for the babies being much smaller than my son and my daughter.

    Has anyone experienced this?

My doctor just scheduled my c-section for March 17th - I'll be 37 weeks and 4 days. My babies do not share a placenta. I'm curious too about just how big they might be at that point!
    Good luck!

I have mine scheduled for 37 weeks and 6 days and mine don't share a placenta either. I know that the ultrasounds aren't always accurate but mine are weighing (by the us estimate) 6 pounds and 4 pounds 13 ounces. Not bad...

I have mine scheduled for 37 weeks 2 days. My ultrasound last week showed 5 lbs 9 oz and 5 lbs 5 oz. I have another ultrasound tomorrow, so I am anxious to see how big they are- then I still have a week and a half until the C section. I am hoping they are both over 6 lbs. by then!

Wow, that's great. I would love for mine to be over 5 lbs. I have my last ultrasound on Friday Feb 1st so we'll see what they estimate the babies' weights to be. I'm so nervous about it but excited too. My last ultrasound was a little over 2 weeks ago and they were saying the babies were 4 lbs and 4 lbs 2 oz. I know it's just an estimate but it does help.

I'll be looking for everyone's baby announcements since we all seem to be close in delivery dates.

    Thanks for the responses.

It is just an estimate, so it's scary!!!
I'm also worried about weights. My original c-section date was for 38 weeks (Feb. 6th), however due to the babies sharing a placenta, measuring large (about 6lbs at 33 wks - a few weeks ago), and my rising bp/swelling......they are doing another growth u/s and an amnio this Thursday to check on lung maturity. They say that they can deliver if the results are positive. I had a c-section w/ my first b/c I did not go into labor and he was considered abnormally large (bone structure), weighing in at 9lb 9 oz (the exact prediction of the u/s tech). So....while I'm excited about the possibility of having my babies in the next week, I'm very nervous that they may not be that big and could need more time to get ready for the world. I really am huge (I'm measuring something like 46 weeks), though, so it's funny that I keep going back and forth...there are just so many unknowns.

My C-Section is scheduled for 39 weeks and 5 days (Feb. 4th)....my babies do not share a placenta. I think they are
letting me go that long because the babies are measuring pretty small right now.

Mine were measured one week before delivery:

    baby a - 4lbs 11 oz
    baby b - 4lbs 9 oz

    Born exactly one week later.

    Baby a - 4 lbs 11 oz
    baby b - 3 lbs 8 oz

So one was pretty accurate and one was way off but with twins i think that is common... BTW - both small but both healthy and delivered at 35 weeks 4 days, no NICU and came home with me... Good luck i know the end is nervous times...

I had my c-section at 37.5 and they weighed 5.9 and 3.15.  They were both fully developed, but the estimates on the ultrasound showed them both to be closer to 6 pounds.  So, you just never know.  I wouldn't put too much on the ultrasound weights.  Making it to 37 weeks is fantastic and I'm sure your babies will be nice and healthy...even if they aren't giants.  Good luck.

My dtr had her scheduled c/s at 36w1d due to shared placenta.. both ob and peri did not want her going past this date so that's great that your doc is willing to let you go a little longer... my grandsons weighed 5.14 and 5.10 and spend no time in the NICU.

Congrats to all of you who are getting close to the end. I can't wait to see pictures of all these little ones!!

I hope you don't mind a grad chiming in...

I had an u/s at 33 weeks and 2 days, the estimates were
    Baby A 4lbs 8 oz
    Baby B 4lbs 6 oz

When they were born at 34 weeks 6 days due to pre-e and HELLP
Baby A 4lbs 14 oz (so probably fairly accurate)
Baby B 4lbs 4 oz (not so accurate)

Hoping you have nice, big healthy babies!

I had a sceduled c-section at 37 weeks and 5 days. My boys share a placenta. I thought they were pretty good sizes. Jack weighed 5 pounds 15.5 ounces and William weighed 5 pounds 13.5 ounces. They came right to the recovery room with me, no NICU time. Now too you would never know they were kind of small. At three and a half months Jack weighs 15 pounds and William weighs 14.5 pounds. They are growing great!

    Good luck!

It's so great to hear about all these healthy babies being born around the same time I'll deliver mine. I feel much better about it and should be glad I'm on my way to making it to 37 weeks. Thanks so much for all the input.
