Congrats on your 32 wks. we are getting on up there huh? I actually asked my O.B when should we expect to deliver and he told me that anywhere between 36-37-and 38 wks. that would be a safe and good time but dependant on the size of the babies. So 37 wks. sound good to me. I actually think that I would feel safe or rather comfortable with either of these weeks.Actually the survival rates are good for how far that we have made it, but of course we want to do everything that we can to prevent NICU time for our little ones.Good Luck hang in there we are almost there.I'm right behind you

From day one my doc has told me he will schedule an induction for week 37. I think it really depends on the doc, and how your pregnancy is going. Most of the docs around here like to see them born before 38 weeks,I only know of 1 that waits to do anything until into your 38th week. Every day is a bonus, but I tell ya that 37 week mark is lookin pretty sweet to me at this point!

Congratulations! I just passed 32 weeks as well.. I felt a huge sigh of relief getting this far :)

37 weeks is when my boys get their eviction notice as well. I was talking to a twin mom the other day who delivered at 38 weeks, and her daughter still spent a bit of time in the NICU.. she felt it would have been avoided if they'd delivered a week earlier as her umbilical cord was deteriorating. But, I have heard it go both ways.. some people prefer 38 weeks.

i think that with twins, there is no magic number. I know women who delivered twins at 35 weeks with no nicu time, and women who delivered at 38 weeks with as much as 2 weeks of nicu time. You know, i think if you keep it in your mind that NICU time will always be a possibility, no matter how far along you deliver, you will prepare yourself for it, and if your babes join the world without NICU time, thats an incredible bonus.

I have read where moms have delivered at 36-37- and even some at 38 wks and their babies still received some NICU time. And then there have been stories where the mother delivered at 34-35-36 wks and the babies went straight home with the mothers and no NICU time.So what I have gathered is that each pregnancy is different because someone at 35 wks. babies may weigh more than someone who was 37 wks for example. I think that it depends on the complications that each person may have experienced their blood pressure etc. the health and weight of the babies oppose to the number of weeks (know what I mean?) But my O.B did tell me that the lungs are fully functional or developed at 34 wks. There has been cases where I've heard that some babies required NICU time to regulate their temperature or to get them to the place where they feed.So NICU is for different reasons and different time spans. The babies may only need to be there overnight or maybe a week oppose to weeks or months all dependent our heath and the health and weights of the babies.Like PP stated sometimes it's better for mother to deliver at 36-or 37 oppose to 38 wks. for the heath and well being of both her and babies, but for the mother who had no complications she can afford to go further like 38 or 38wks and some days because it poses no threat to her or babies.Either way it goes take it easy and like your dr. says get to 34 wks. where those lungs are strong you and babies will be fine, again you did great you are in for the stretch now this journey has had its share of scares and to have come so far is awesome and a relief and to make it this far is truly a blessing.

My OB always schedules twins for 37 weeks. In fact she scheduled me a bit earlier (36w5d) because she was going on vacation and wanted to make sure she'd be there. You can never be sure (sometimes even full term singletons need NICU time, for whatever reason), but I think it's considered fairly safe. Mine went home with me.

My OB already scheduled my c-section for 37w3d. and he told me that if I will not go earlier he usually take the babies out between 37-38 weeks

Congrats on getting this far! Count me in for delivering at 37 weeks too if we make it that long. My OB won't let me go beyond that. So far, it's been an uncomplicated pregnancy, and these little ones are growing like gangbusters. I have another growth ultrasound tomorrow and we expect them to be well over 5 pounds.

I was induced at 37 weeks. I was worried about it being too early but everything turned out fine. My girls weighed 5.4 and 5.7 and came home with me the next day! Good luck!

One of my MFM's told me yesterday that unless there is an emergency they will no longer induce until you are past the 38 week mark without doing an amnio to see if the lungs are fully mature. This is a change in there policy based on new research recently released. Since 38w is a friday for us - we have to wait until 38w 3d to induce (Monday). With 2 weeks left to go I findmyself wishing that they would come on their own...and SOON!

I had a scheduled c-section at 37w3d. My boys were both healthy no nicu or special nursery time. They came home with me after 3 days in the hospital. How exciting to be scheduling a date!!! Oh and my boys weighed 6lbs. 14oz and 7lbs 11oz.

I asked my OB when he'll schedule my c/s and he said 37 weeks (for a singleton he normally schedules a c/s at 39 weeks).

37 weeks is considered full term by most OBs. I gave birth to mine at 37.3 weeks. No NICU time though DD spent the night in the incubator as a precaution as she´d had a traumatic birth (she came out feet first and her head got stuck). We went home after 3 days! GL to you! :)
