Schedulec c/s - what week is best?

I am 33.5 weeks, and my OB and peri are very pleased with how well I'm doing and would like to schedule a c/s at 37 weeks 1 day. Does that sound too early? I really don't want to schedule to have them too early and then they have any complications as a result. (Baby A is breech and B is transverse, so c/s seems most likely!)

When does your doctor recommend you schedule a c/s?

    Thanks!

My OB also scheduled my c/s for 37.5 weeks. By the time I reached that point my body was ready ;)
I ended up on L&D a few times right before the c/s.
My little girls didn't have any NICU time or any complications :good:

My OB wouldn't let me go past 36 weeks with my mono-di boys. She ended up delivering me sooner because my placenta was wearing out. I forgot to add that my boys only spent 1 week in the nicu to work on feeding.

Before we found out it was twins at 19 weeks, the OB told me that we would schedule one for 39 weeks.

After we found out it was twins, she told me that we would do it at 38 weeks- unless I needed it earlier- that they didn't like to schedule it sooner unless there was a reason.

So, 37 weeks doesn't sound too early.

The closer to 38 weeks the better. If my Baby A is still breech, mine will be scheduled for 38 weeks exactly!

I am scheduled for 38 1/2 weeks which is the latest my OB would let me go. My OB was willing to schedule it for any time after 37 weeks, but I pushed for the later date because my oldest daughter will graduate from nursery school in that time frame. However, I know that my OB is comfortable with 37 weeks because my oldest was an emergency 37 week c-section and she was fine.

My OB would not schedule sooner then 38 weeks. I think if my twins had their way, they'd still be in my belly :)

I'm not officially scheduled yet, but my OB isn't going to let me go beyond 37 wks. It will most likely be a c/s delivery.

My doctor wouldn't do anything before 38 weeks. There is quite a big difference in outcome between 36-37 and 38+ weekers. I had an induction b/c position was fine, but in terms of timing that didn't make a difference.

My doctor scheduled me for 37 weeks (04/22/09). I wanted to try for 38 weeks, but she won't let me go that far.

    Hi!
My doctor had scheduled me for 39 weeks because the hospital wouldn't allow a schedule before that point. I agree with them too, if you can handle keeping them in there as long as you can, and if you and the babies are both healthy with no apparent issues, then keeping them in for 39 or 40 weeks gives your babies just that extra fighting chance against complications.
However, don't feel badly if you want them out earlier. I remember at 34 weeks saying I couldn't handle it any more. The boys heard that and came at 36w2d just to make me happy :) One twin was just fine, the other had to be in the NICU for 5 days due to a small issue with his lung, but we all came out of the hospital at the same time healthy and happy!

I had my c-section at 37w3d. They were perfect. 6lbs. 14oz. and 7lbs. 11oz. No NICU! I was really amazed they did that well since all of my other babies were born at 40-42 weeks.

I still have a while but I asked my OB at my last appointment when he would like to do the c/s and he said he likes to schedule them for 37 weeks. He delivered my last baby (a singleton), too, and he scheduled her c/s for 39 weeks.

My doctor wouldn't schedule anything until at least 38 weeks (my water ended up breaking at 37 weeks, 4 days). Honestly, I wouldn't do anything before 38 weeks. Especially if there is any question as to date of conception and actual fetal age.
