    Hello,

I'm a new member, posted a few times. I enjoy this forum soooo much. What a huge help!

My question is..... I have 2 month old b/g twins (34 weekers). Should they be on a schedule by now? I guess they're sort of on one. They eat every 3-4 hours(day) and every 4-5 (night). They do nap during the day, but that seems really sporatic (sp?) right now. They seem to be taking lots of little cat naps at all sorts of different times.

I'm a really "schedule" type person, but feeling so overwhelmed with the babies (plus, I have a 4 year old). I feel like I can't pull it together and come up with something that works.

Is 2 months too early? Can you guys give me an idea what your day is (was) like with your 2 - 3 month olds?

    Thanks so much,

    Jody

Two months was when my two kind of made their own schedule. It was at that time when I figured out their 'tired' cries. They would be up about 1½ - 2 hours and then nap. They both didn't nap the same amount of time, but they are two different kids!

    6am - up
    7:30/8 nap
    9/9:30 up
etc.. I'd nurse them when they'd go down. (and every time they seemed hungry.. probably after they got up too!! )
They'd be awake more in the afternoon and then the evening they'd feed more often (witching hours). Bed at 7:40 and up during the night.

    Hi Jody!

The only type of schedule we had at that point was a feeding schedule. Naps were all over the place still, and really didn't get into a rythm until about 5 months. It will get better!

The only schedule we had at that age was their feeding schedule. Basically, its the only thing they can be scheduled on. As far as naps, they will do that when they want. Around 4 months, a schedule for naps, feeds, and solids can be better made.

My girls turned 4 months today and were also 34 weekers (ok, 33 and 6 days..)

as pp's said - the only schedule is their feeding sched - and for us, that changes on a daily basis! Every time I think we've got one, it gets blown: their 3 hours during the day becomes 2hrs 40 minutes, or something like that.

I'm surprised ours are going so long during the day between feeds, actually. It's very challenging when they are so little, especially if you are used to be organized; the best advice i can give is to surrender to it: they will only be this little once, and trust me it really does pass quickly (in the big sense, on a daily basis it is sometimes excrutiating!) But - i can hardly remember what my girls were like at 2 mos - of course that could be the exhaustion speaking...

It will get better and they will get more interactive and fun w/each passing day; mine started getting really interesting in the last two weeks or so. you have so much to look forward to!

My boys are 12 wks old today and we actually are on a schedule (eating and sleeping). During the day they eat every 4 hrs, they stay up for about 1-11/2 hrs after waking, and they almost always sleep until the next bottle. They take three good naps a day and a catnap in the evening. Here's a general idea of how our day goes (it varies depending on when they get up in the morning)....

6am- wake up, change diapers, bottle (5oz)
630 - play (playmat, go on walk, sing songs, etc)
7-730- get ready for nap (read books, rocking chair)
    730- asleep
10am- wake up, change diapers, bottle (5oz)
    1030- play
11-1130 - get ready for nap
    1130 - asleep
2pm- wake up, change diapers, bottle (5oz)
    230- play
3-330 - get ready for nap
    330 - asleep
6pm - wake up, change diapers, bottle (5oz)
    630 - play with daddy
7-8 - nap (usually just lay with daddy on the couch)
8 pm - bathtime, pajamas, read books
    9pm - bottle (5oz), change diaper, swaddle
    930 - asleep

They usually wake once in the night to eat (typically around 4am) then go back to sleep until 6 or 7am. The schedule definitely changes if one of them isn't feeling well, or we have to go somewhere, or we have visitors, etc. It kind of fell into place when I realized that my boys needed WAY more sleep than they were getting. They were screaming all the time and through trial and error I discovered that they can't be up for more than 1 1/2 hrs after waking. Now they take great naps, and sleep great at night, and are such happy babies! But... I know this could all change tomorrow!!! ;)

my 34 weekers are doing the same thing right now. the only routine we've got going is that we try to make sure the last feeding is between 9-10pm. So around 8:30, we bathe/change them and then take them into our bedroom (the only feeding in our room) where the lights are very dim. We feed them and they tend to go right to sleep. The wake again around 1:30-2 to eat, then again around 5:30-6a. After that, it's a complete crapshoot. I'm just hoping it normalizes a little over the next few weeks!
