    hi everyone
i am getting toward the tail end of my 36 weeks and my docter has scheduled a c section for a little past 38 weeks. there are various reasons why i need to get a csection (weights, baby positions) - so i am ok with that. i guess i was surprised he is waiting so long. is this normal... i thought i saw other posts where people were scheduled earlier...

also, on a random topic. my other freind didnt deliver until her 38 week. and, really there is no better way to say this - but one of the twins pooped while inside of her. to this day, my freind thinks this is why one of the twins is so much more challanging then the other. she thinks she may have eaten some of it. has anyone heard of this as leading to problems... who is my freind just reading into things...

any advice anyone has on any of the 2 questions that would be great!!!

If all is well, and you aren't having PTL signs, Dr's are optomistic and try to let you go as long as you can. Of course if you have any problems between now and then, they may go ahead with a c-section, and it wouldn't be as risky to the babies since you are already as far along as you are.

I don't think 38 W is too long, all docs do it a little differently, some earlier some later.

They had me wait until 37wks 5 days...not quite as long. My first dd did have meconium (she was a singleton.) It can happen if they are stressed... I was having lots of contractions in the days before she was due...and she was three days overdue. It can happen in just hours before you give birth...so there is no way to predict it. By the way my dd is perfectly healthy, happy and very intelligent....in spite of being in that for over 20 hours... Hopefully your doctors will be doing NSTs twice a week at least to see if your babies are handling the extra time well enough. And who knows, you might go into labor this weekend throwing all those plans aside...

My doc said he would schedule my csection after 37 wks, but due to his vacation & the surgery schedule, I'm not going in until 37w5d (my Baby A is breech). Originally he said he wouldn't take me til after 38 wks, but I think he feels bad that I've been on bedrest for 6 weeks & in the hospital for almost 2 of those, so he's letting me 'evict' a little sooner ;). As long as the babies are handling it okay, the longer in there...the better (even though some days I just WISH they'd come out!!)!!!!

My doc won't do anything before 38 weeks unless medically necessary. My 38 weeks was on a Saturday right after Thanksgiving and my own doc was on call on Monday so we scheduled my induction for that day, also 38w2d!
