If you dont have complications with your twin pregnancy and they stay in :) do
you get the option to Scd your C-section..I heard you can Scd it at 34 weeks? Is this true?

If you mean can you choose to have the c/s at 34 weeks, I doubt it -- most doctors want them to stay in at least till 35 if there are no problems (mine said 37). However, I would not schedule a c/s unless there is some reason to have one rather than a vaginal delivery. A c/s can seem like the easy way out (and I admit I was relieved when my OB said I should have one b/c one of my twins was breech), but the recovery was much harder than I anticipated. I wound up wishing I could have had a vaginal delivery. But of course it's up to you, and I think doctors are more willing to schedule c/s with twins than with singletons.

Well i was told him my doctor from day one that I was going to be having them by c section alot of my problems with the pregnacy have been that im not a big girl at all and they didnt think id be able to carry too very long. but it looks like its going well. If they can come out at 35-37 weeks im all for it. it feels like they already dont have anymore room too grow! lol

I'm going to have a scheduled c-section by 36 weeks. I'm diabetic though. My firstborn was a 36 weeker too. I believe they'll do an amnio around 35 weeks to make sure the lungs are OK. Then I should be able to go. I just hope I can keep them in that long!!

My OB gave me the choice of trying vaginally or scheduling a c-section. Due to the positioning of the babies, we scheduled a c-section. My OB scheduled mine for 38 weeks. If I went in to labor prior to that, we still would have done a c-section, but the soonest they would schedule it (since I didn't have any complications) was 38 weeks.

I'm 5'1" and he said no earlier than 37 weeks. I went at 37 wks, 1 day for my c/s, and only after a u/s confirming they were running out of room for their amnions at 36 wks.

I had to have a c/s for medical reasons. My doctor/hospital would not schedule before 38 weeks with the twins or with my singleton. I don't think that most docs would schedule one for 34 weeks unless there were some difficulty in the pregnancy.

My dr. said they prefer to wait until 39 weeks as long as there are no problems, this gives their lungs all the time they need to complete development. He said if I was truly uncomfortable he would induce or c/s depending on the babies position at 38. They don't like to go earlier than that. He said that even though twins are said to mature faster than single babies, their lungs still need those last couple of weeks to mature and eliminate the risks of respiratory issues. If you were in Hollywood and the dr.'s were caught up in the whole micro-preemie thing they would do it in a heartbeat .

I will be having a c/s because I am a repeat C. I had one with both of my prior pregnancies. My first was born at 36 due to pre-e and my second at 38 due to PIH and he was big. For the twins, we are playing it by ear to see if I go into labor on my own or if my blood pressure acts up. If neither of those things happens, we will most likely be having the section when I am 37 weeks 5 days.

I'm pretty sure the earliest they will schedule one is 36 weeks unless there are complications. Each day you keep them inside is 2 days less they will spend in the NICU.

I just scheduled my c-section for 37 weeks, 6days. They were booked on the day I was 38 weeks. Even though my girls are both head down and I gave birth to my son vaginally, the doctor highly recommended a c due to the fact that I am having identical twins, and the fact they share a placenta. She feels it is too risky to give bith vaginally in a situation like mine. I think it really depends on the philosphy of your doctor.

My babies were born at 34 weeks in an emergency c/s due to heartrate decels and some other things pointing to them needing out right then. While I am so glad that they were out safe and sound, I would have loved to have kept them in for one more week even. I wouldn't think any Dr would sched a c/s at 34 weeks unless there were some dire need to get the babies out. My babies ended up in the NICU for a week- nothing major just feeding issues and jaundice therapy, but still had to have IVs and labs drawn, feeding tubes, etc and it took a good 4 weeks to get them to breastfeed since they were such weak feeders from being premature. You want to keep those babies cooking as long as you safely can :)

The longer they 'bake' the better! I don't know of any doctor who would schedule a c-section at 34 weeks UNLESS there is some medical need for it.

I can't imagine any doctor delivering twinsor any other baby on request at 34 weeks. 34 weeks is too early to plan a delivery, if they come at 34 weeks they are certainly viable and can be healthy, but it would be irresponsible and unsafe to plan a delievery that early if both mom and babies are healthy. I know that you might be miserable right now, I know I was, but you will be more miserable if you deliver your babies early just for comfort and convienience. Remember that every day they are inside cooking they spend an average of 3 days less in NICU.

I'm 5 foot tall, and no one has mentioned scheduling a Csection to me. My OB told me that she thinks they will be here before Memorial Day, but I've already told her that I'm not interested in scheduling a section, nor induction, unless there is a true medical emergency.

Why does she think it's 'risky'? My OB told me I was in the all clear for a vaginal delivery if both were head down, and we could even do a breech extraction if Baby B ended up the wrong way. My twins share a placenta, but I don't know if they are identical or not, since we are not finding out.

Our hospital will NOT perform them under 36 weeks. They send you else where.
