Scary morning at the zoo

Yesterday I took my guys to the zoo and met a co-worker and her kids along with another twin mommy and her kiddos. We got their first and went to the aquarium area to wait for them. We looked at the huge tanks with the sharks/fish and dolphins. Then we went to the huge pond/touch tank with a waterfall. My guys just love the waterfall (it turns on and off every 30 seconds or so, and they squeal with delight when it turns on). So we are standing at the pool waiting for the waterfall to go on, looking at the starfish and sealife. The next thing I know Josh goes HEAD first into the pool and is basically drowning. I was able to reach right in and pull him out (the pool was probably about 4.5 feet deep). Noah was screaming in fear and Josh was crying/coughing when I pulled him out - he was so scared, choking and soaking wet. Of course I had an audience of parents looking on (no one offered any help though). I quickly got NOah and Josh in the stroller. Then I stripped all of Josh's clothes off as he was so cold. I covered him up in my sweatshirt (half it it was dry). I stayed calm, but it was scary! I called my friend Katie who was on the way, and thank goodness she has spare clothes in her car (I didn't have any with me, as I had just cleaned out the summer clothes from my diaper bag). So she got there and I got Josh dressed, and we continued on with our morning. Whew! Then on the tropics trail, Noah was running and slipped on the concrete path (it was wet from waterning the plants) and his feet went right out from under him and he hit his head hard. OMG! I couldn't believe it! He was okay, but it was quite a morning.

After all that we hit McDonald's playland, I needed to feed them and calm down after the crazy morning. Well, of course, more luck - Noah got hurt going down the slide - a few huge scrapes across his tummy. I have no idea how it happened, I am guessing another child went down at the same time and must have scrapped him with a belt or something.

Goodness, what a day! Ahh, the life with active twin boys.

I'm so glad everyone's ok. I can't believe that no one offered to help you when Josh fell in the pool; that would really make me mad!!! How scary. I hope you have a very calm day today.

Wow....I tease that our home is going to be a zoo...but maybe it isn't much of a joke! I am impressed at how you handled everything with your boys!

I think you deserve a long bubble bath or a massage or something pleasurable to you!

OMG Amy, How scary! I'm glad he was ok! It always amazes me how people just stand there and watch!

Glad to hear you survived the day though :) Now we know why they say mothers of boys die younger! ;)

I have 'nightmares' that things happen just like that! I am glad that everyone is ok. Sometimes when it rains, it pours!!! I hope your next experience at the zoo is better!!!

My kids still don't know that that waterfall pool has stuff in it- I've never let them climb up to look in there. That's probably mean, but I'll keep it up for a while after hearing this story!

This SO sounds like a day that I would have had with my boys. OHHHH....the excitement of twin toddlers!
