Scared of the bath?

Hi all,

So we just moved into a new house this past weekend (on our 3rd night), and my little miss who used to LOVE the bath now screams and cries so hard when we try to put her in the tub. The new bathroom looks surprisingly similar to our old one, but she is just in panic mode. I tried to get in the tub with her tonight and it calmed her down for all of 10 seconds before she started wailing again.

Any ideas on what we could try to help her adapt? Really, she used to splash and giggle and kick in joy the whole time she was in the tub!

My kids are almost 3 and they are terrified of any tub that is not located in our home. When we are visiting or on vacation, I either make the bath extremely quick and try to distract with bath toys. My two really liked the bathtime toodles (and the crayons do wash off the bathtub). This probably isn't too helpful in the winter time, but next summer when we go away, I might invest in a cheap plastic pool and let the kids go in it and let them bathe that way.

Have you tried bubbles? Sometimes bubbles are just too tempting to resist.

 

My one daughter did this a few months ago and we was in the same tub. One day she was fine the next she flipped out. We just kept trying each night. I put lots of toys in there and splashed her sister and her sister would laugh. We tried to make it like going in the tub was the best thing. Gradually the screaming was less and less. Now she tries to swim and we can't get her clothes off fast enough to get into the tub. It lasted for us about a week - week and a half. Good Luck!!

 

My son did this and I was at wits end. I did one bath in the sink which went amazingly well. Next time however nope. I went back to the bathtub. He refused to even get in it with me. I did some quick baths & then worked on distraction with toys. He now loves his bath. :hug: It was just a phase.. hope it is with you as well.
