Saying goodbye to our EI therapists

I didn't realize how weird it is going to be without our therapists coming over every week. Mondays Natalie gets an hour of ST, Tuesday Natalie & Brooke get an hour together of PT and Wednesdays each of them got an hour of ST and nutrition once a month. We've gone thru the evaluation process with our school district and the girls are going to each get an hour of speech a week (they will get it at the same time) and Natalie will get 30 minutes of PT per week. I know that they will still be taken care of, but its sad to say goodbye to our therapists, they seem like our lifeline and a little bit like parents to my dh & me. They've been thru so much with us. I'm at work when our PT comes and my dh and her have really gotten to be close over the 2 1/2 years she's been with us (she's about 60 and fantastic!) - she actually cried when she said goodbye to my dh and the girls. Change is probably good for them, but you know how us moms are when it comes to our kids - I hope that the school district therapists are as great as our at home therapists have been.

Wow - I don't know what I'm going to do on Wednesdays now that we're not stuck in the house for the morning with therapy! Enjoy summer I guess :D

:hug99: I know change is hard and that your girls keep on improving with their new arrangements! :)

One of the hardest things we have had to do was end E/I. My girls still ask to go play with their therapists when we drive by the "school" where they had e/i playgroup and therapy. You all adjust to it eventually.

:hug99: That must be rough. It's one of the things I'm dreading most this year myself. Our therapists feel like family now. DH is the SAHP and they are his social life!

With summer coming I hope it won't be as difficult for you all.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. My boys will be three on the 30th. I get a little teary just thinking about it. We just had our school district meeting today. As much as I am going to miss them I am looking forward to three less appointments per week!

Did you give your therapists anything? I was thinking of giving them flowers and a letter telling them how much we have appreciated them but I am not sure.

We haven't gotten them anything (totally my fault I've been crazy at work). But we have their home addresses and plan on sending cards w/gifts in the mail. For our PT we were going to get her a Visa gift card or something similar b/c she has a daughter & grandchildren in CT that she likes to go visit so we thought that would be something that would help out with airfare. For our ST, who has triplets herself, I was thinking of a gift certificate to a local spa for a mani/pedi. I like the idea of the letter, but I'm not great about writing something like that, so I'll probably just get "Thank You" cards and put a short personal note inside.
