Has anyone else seen this? It's alarming, but I'm not sure if it's also alarmIST.

This is true. I thought I had heard on the radio that the bill to get rid of phalates and bisphenol –A from toys and children's products had passed the CA assembly, but all I could find was an article that it had moved out of committee and will be up for a vote (llink to article). Anyway, I'm hoping that it does pass if it hasn't already. If you are worried about bottles, there are manufacturers who have already moved to remove bisphenol –A from their products. For instance, All Medela bottles & breastpump kits are 100% Bisphenol-A (BPA) Free. And there are other companies out there making Bisphenol -A free bottles and baby products.

Well, we used the Avent bottles (on the list), and since you can't un-ring a bell... We are using Playtex sippys, and I suppose we could avoid high temp wash so that chemicals don't eek out, but hot water helps get rid of bacteria, and ......ugh..I've gone cross-eyed.

But for the babies to come, I hope they start mandating that it be removed.

I have seen it before and I am really trying not to get too worried, hoping it's not that bad. We used Playtex bottles and occasionally heated them in the microwave (not long, just to take the cold edge off) but always washed them in the super hot sanitize cycle because I thought we were supposed to. I know, it makes your head hurt to think about it.

It's the bottle that's the issue. We trashed all of our Avent bottles at 6 months when I read about this and replaced them with Sassy MAM bottles. I'd much rather be safe than sorry, and it's worth the cost of the new bottles for peace of mind.

If anyone researches this on their own, make sure to investigate whose site you're viewing--some of the major ones with bisphenol-a in the address are put up by the plastics industry. That doesn't necessarily make them wrong, but it certainly makes me suspect their motives when they say BPA is safe.

This keeps surfacing again and again. I still use Avent sippies - used all Avent bottles. No sense in worrying about what I've already done I guess. B)

Seems like there was something posted that sorta helped to debunk that info, but I don't have time to search right now.
