....she said I am still 1 cm dialted but she can now feel the head. I was so dissapointed to hear that I ws still 1 cm that I didn't ask about her being able to feel the head. Can I still stay this way for awhile OR is she getting ready to see us soon.

She is down so low that it REALLY hurst when she moves....I am so ready to see her :)

I never had myself checked... you can stay at 3 cms for weeks or go from 0 to 10 in hours. How far dilated you are doesn't affect or predict when you'll go into labor. I wouldn't be disappointed at all.. I went from 4 (a stretchy 6 during contractions) at 7 am to 8 at noon and had a baby by 3 pm! As for carrying low, I think its great! One less thing to worry about!

At my 39 week appt. I was STILL only dialated to a 1. At my 40+1 appt. I was a 5! Of course I had been having contractions for 24 hours at that point. At least he is head down! :) That is good news, right?

I was dilated at 1 cm for 7 weeks with the twins....I finally progressed from 2-4 cm from weeks 32-34 and then delievered at 34. I do know that my OB could feel Baby A's head like a month before I delivered, but I'm not sure that's any indication. You are getting SO close anyway! No worries!

The baby getting more engaged in your pelvis IS progress. My health care provider (hcp) did NOT only look at the number of cm dilated. She told me to look at everything, effacement, dilation, position, and station (how far engaged). I was SOOOO disappointed at my 39 week appt when I was told that I was 0 cm dilated, not effaced AT ALL, and the baby was super high at a -3 station. I took a LONG hour walk the next day to digest this information and clear my head. I was 1-2 cm dilated with the twins at 34 weeks so I thought I would at least be dilated to 2 at 39 weeks.

I didn't dilate until I was laboring. It's hard being pregnant and having twins to chase around, I understand. You will go into labor soon, you're right there at the end of it.

Anyway, I was told to look at all the factors. The fact that your little one dropped and the OB can feel the head is absolute progress. Let the baby do what it needs to do to get ready. I have to tell you in all honesty, I LOVE that my daughter was a 40 week baby. She was so different than her sibling twins that came at almost 38 weeks. Be excited that your little one is cooking this long- she will come out good and ready. :)

Amy, I know many people that weren't dialated at their appt and went into full labor a day or two after that appt. Just becaseu you are dialted, it means nothing, either way. Doesn't mean you will go sooner or later than anyone else dialted 3cm or not dialted at all. IT's all up to that little one and when he/she is ready to come out.

It's for this exact reason that my doc doesn't check unless the pregnant mom requests it. He says it is invasive and has no bearing on when someone will go into labor.

good luck. I hope it's soon for your sake!!

    Keep us posted.
