So I am 15w1d and have not gaind any weight yet. MY MFM was concerned so he sent me to a nutritionist. Well she wants me to have 2600 calories per day and 18 ounces of protein per day. What?????? Who can eat that much protein per day??? Plus i have to eat 3 meals and 3 snacks. I am overweight to begin with (25-30 pounds) so I can't understand why I am having such a hard time gaining weight. She wants me to gain 2 pounds within the next week or she will readjsut my menu.

She has me eating 6-8 servings of milk per day
6 servings of protein (18 ounces)
    5 servings of fruit
    and other stuff
It is basically a gestational diabetes diet as I am concerned I am high risk for that anyway
Wish me luck-thats alot of food

i know it's alot of food, hon. At 15 weeks i hadnt gained anything either, but by 23 weeks i had put on 20 lbs. lol My DH kept saying i needed to eat more and i was like " my stomach just won't hold that much food ". You'd be surprised how fast the babies will start to suck it up though. By the time i hit 18 weeks i could be stuffed from a meal and then be starving 2 hours later cause the boys had taken it all.

I lost weight the entire time that I was pregnant.......I was 27 pounds lighter after I gave birth than I was at my first appointment for the pregnancy.

My doctor said that as long as the babies looked good, and continued to grow....we would not worry about it. For the record, I was overweight before the pregnancy too

At 15 wks I had only gained back the weight I lost, and I wasn't overweight to begin with. But soon after that my appetite picked up a LOT. I got in 24 lbs by 24 weeks, and have now gained 50 lbs. Don't kill yourself trying to eat everything right now. You appetite will pick up as your babies need it.

Sounds fantastic. I started this kind of diet about 6 years ago. It took a while to adjust to, but once your body does, you'll need the the food on a regular basis.

Besides, it is much healthier to eat small meals throughout the day then eat three large ones.

One piece of advice, when you are grocery shopping, shop only the perimeter. All the gross, nasty processed foods are in the middle of the store. Fresh fruits, veggies, meat, bread, eggs and dairy....that is all you need.

    Enjoy the food,
    Jenn
