I bought my DS a cheap pair of knock off crocs at Wal Mart. They cut into his little feet and give him blisters. I want to buy him a pair of Keens, but I hate to spend 45.00 on them. Has anyone found them cheaper, or what do you have your little boys in? He has a wide foot!

    Thanks

I got some really nice stride rites (wides) at a consignment sale. You could ask around your local MOMs club and check consignment stores in your area so you don't have to pay full price. I have had good luck at Stride Rite outlets getting their shoes for about $20 a pair, sometimes less.

We have Teva Psyclone sandals this year and LOVE THEM! They wear their sandals for swim shoes in the lake (the sandals float if they manage to kick them off) and also around town. No blisters or rub marks and with the way they close, I can snug them down for their narrow feet or they could easily fit a wide foot. Sierratradingpost.com had the best price when I was searching ($14).

Our favorite sandals are Teva Psyclones. They're comfy and very adjustable. They retail for about $25, though I've gotten them (new) much cheaper on eBay.

I was in the same boat & then I found some called Northside, I think. We have a Sportsmans Warehouse & they were only $15! Look almost identical to the Keens.

I got these for Trevor a few weeks ago, on sale for $14.00 and I had a 30% off coupon on top of that.

I just bought these for the boys at L.L. Bean for $14.95. They love them so far. My boys are the same size in length but one is wide and one is narrow. I can adjust the sandals to fit both of them very nicely!

my son ADORES his Crocs - last year I bought the knockoffs because his feet weren't big enough for the real ones but this year they are and we've had no blistering/cutting issues - perhaps he needs to go up a size...

my kids CRY to wear their crocs all day long!

We bought Keens this year for the boys at REI and got them when they had a 20% sale. They've worn them for a couple of months already and we haven't had any problems. They also have crocs and they LOVE them. They wear them all day!!
    Good luck.

Our DS wears Crocs. We've bought both the knock-offs and the "real" ones. He likes both and we haven't had any problems. He does have a wide foot, too.

We had the Teva Psyclones last year and I really liked them. We also have the Crocs, but last year the boys were really still wobblers, and this year I notice that these shoes seem to trip them up more on cement, I'm not sure if this is because we are sort of in between sizes so they are a bit loose, or b/c my kids don't bother to pay attention to anything when they go tearing up the sidewalk.

I have two pairs of Keen sandals myself, and they are GREAT!

My boys got the same pair of Tevas that Becky5 gave a link to. I bought them last fall at a sporting goods store when they were clearing out their summer merchandise. I paid about $6 per pair. We didn't have a choice in color, and I had to guess about size, b ut right now I'm really glad I did it. They love the sandals, as do I! I'm going to look for similar sales this fall. Can't beat the price!

I got my boys Thom McCann leather sandals from Kmart! They are great! They sometimes have a buy one get one 50% off or other deal going on. I used to get the girls ones for my dd every year- in fact she still has a pair now at 9 from Easter time...
They wear well and look nice when dressed up or casual. Never had an issue with blisters or red marks. And they close with velcro.

We SWEAR by Teva's at our house! I usually buy them in the winter on REI outlet for under $20. They last all summer, are comfortable, and can be washed when they get stinky or muddy. One year, I couldn't find Teva's for under $35 for my oldest son so I bought him some sandals from Target. I ended up buying him 3 MORE pairs of various sandals that summer - just because they kept breaking, or the sole came off, or the strap frayed to the point they weren't usable. I spent way more than I would have if I had just spent the extra $$$ on the Teva's! I hadn't seen the infant Psychole's - I think I'll have to get some of those for Jake!

This winter, (at a ski-swap, of all places) they had a big table full of Keen sandals for $30. We bought some for Nate and Drew and they are fantastic, as well! They are a bit more difficult for N&D to put on themselves, though, and I find they often prefer to wear their too small Teva's from last year. The Keen's are stinking cute, though! I also already had to wash the Keen's (I just stuck them in the washing machine and air-dry them), and they washed beautifully, as well.

One thing I have noticed with Crocs (and the knock off brands) is that the first time my kids wear a new pair they get blisters (on the sides of their ankles where the little nobs are). It just happened again this year. They were all weairing their crocs for weeks straight and I bought new ones and they all got blisters. Once the blisters heal I'll try them again and hopefully like the past years they will be ok. Drives me crazy because the blisters are huge.
