I was just wondering if you dress your same sex twins alike. Mine are in matching outfits unless they are sleeping or someone had an explosion in their clothes. I wonder how long they will let me play dress up with them. :D

When I found out I was having twins the very first thing I said was that I would never dress them the same and would not have matching names. Well, I didnt match the names but I have to say I dress them the same all the time and when i dont I think that there is something wrong with it. LOL I feel like I am being unfair to one if I think the outfit is cuter then the other LOL. I know I am crazy.

maybe it's specifically because they're ID i never ever dress them the same. i'm not sure i've done it even once. i think it's because i figure they've got enough in common already. :)

Yeah when we found out we were having 2 girls, DH said "Oh good. We already have all of Raegan's clothes." I then reminded him that I would be dressing them the same and Raegan was just one child, without 2 of everything. He thought he was getting off cheap. Yeah right! I just donated 8 trash bags of girls' clothes from 0-9 month sizes. None of them were matching. LOL!

I always dress mine alike, it's easier for me.

We almost never dressed them the same (even when they were young enough that we could get away with picking out their clothes). For one thing, nearly all their clothes are hand-me-downs, so we rarely have two of anything. But I also just never really liked to dress them alike.

However, I often dressed them similarly -- both in dresses, or both in jeans, or both in overalls, or whatever. And we have a few almost-matching outfits for Christmas, Easter, etc. This Christmas we let them pick out their own Christmas dresses (from the sale rack at the department store) and they both picked the same one -- so they are dressing alike by their own choice. I'm actually not wild about it because I don't want people to think I insist on dressing my twins alike!

The boys rarely wear the exact same thing, but it's usually the same style of pants/shorts and shirt just in different colors.

I always used to dress them the same when they were younger, I was even one of those crazy mothers that changed both if one got dirty lol (now I wouldn't do that again). Around 3 years they started to want to dress different and that was fine by me. probably 70% of their clothes are the same just wear on different days. Now ocassionally they will say to each other "lets dress like twins today" and they put on the same clothes, that makes me laugh.

I only have a few matching outfits and the rest of the time they have similar outfits but different color. Mine are ID so I also think its easier to see which is which even if I'm not in front of them.

Hands down the best argument to dress them differently is that you have a good excuse to buy more different cute clothes. When I go clothes shopping I have the hardest time choosing which outfit I'm going to buy out of 5 super cute ones... With twins of the same sex I could buy two different ones!

Ah, it must be nice when they can use each other's clothes!

My little guys are id and so hard to tell apart as it is. We always try to dress one in blue and one in green so we'll be able to tell them apart in pictures later on! :)

Ok I couldn't vote because I don't know if they are ID or not. They are the same sex and yes most of the time I dress them the same. I however do put on different socks, this was something I planned before they were born. Also their accessories, pacifiers, blankets, bibs, etc are also different. and if I have to put htme in different outfits because that is what someone bought, it is always in this order:

Beckett-has blue accessories and wears the blue outfit
Greyson -has green accessories and wears the green outfit.

If the outfits do not fit that scheme then somehowI have managed. My mom bought them similar outfits with giraffes for this summer and one had a green collar, so Greyson wore that, but they were mostly yellow. All their socks have something blue or green on them, I did this to be able to tell them apart because I was worrid I wouldn't know who is who. but that is not an issue anymore.

I like to dress them 'similar'. Like in the same style, but one's pink and the other is purple. Or if they're wearing the same onesie, I try to change the color of their pants. Sometimes I dress them alike though.. mostly with their jammies cause they have lots of duplicates of those. They have the 'same' sweaters and jackets though, so when we go out they look like they're dressed alike.

Most of the time...yes. I swore up and down I wouldn't while I was pregnant. Now it irks me if they are not LOL If not totally matching, usually coordinating. Same outfit, different colors.

I voted ID and i dont dress alike BUT...

I swore I would never dress them alike… only a couple times for token grandparent pics (mine LIVE for those pics)… BUT I find myself dressing them similar… because it looks great in photos and I never know when a photo op will happen… like we are going to see Santa when they wake up and they will be wearing different type jean and different color polo’s but both will be wearing jeans and a polo… I do the same when I shop… I don’t even realize it till later… My sister whose baby’s are 20m apart are always in the same outfit for every family gathering… she hoped and prayed for twins… I almost felt guilty when I found out I was prego w/ twins while on BC because I knew how bad she wanted twins… since she was a kid…

I usually dress them in similar outfits, both in jeans with the same colour top with a different print. I have a few identical outfits that they have worn for special occasions, but even then I try to put one in pink and one in purple, so I don't have to spend the entire day telling people who is who. Mine are fraternal and people still can't tell them apart.

I never thought I'd dress them alike but I do. Not all the time because I also have a lot of hand me downs, but if they're not matching they are dressed similarly.

Our boys are ID and I very rarely dress them alike. We've had people give us two of the same outfit and I've let them dress alike in those once or twice, but as a rule I don't like doing it. Their father, on the other hand, thinks it's easier that trying to decide on two different outfits.

I usually buy outfits that are similar. I like the Carter's five pack of onesies because they all coordinate! I'll buy them the same shirt in different colors or patterns. I bought fleece hoodies from Old Navy that were the same, just in a different color. Not only is it easier to tell them apart, but it also forces me to remember that they are two different babies. I've had a hard time with that, so it's my own personal issue.

I voted fraternal although I am not sure.

We do the same outfit/different colors thing a lot, we do the matchy-matchy a lot, we do similar outfits a lot.

One day this fall I got them dressed quickly so we wouldn't be late for our music class. Matthew was wearing a Bears jersey and Ryan had some other kind of shirt. They were both wearing jeans. We went to Target after class, and a woman stopped me to ask if they were twins. When I told her they were, she pointed to Matthew and said, "He's got the better shirt. You must love him more."

I was FLOORED and so embarrassed, even though it was dumb!

My kids live in hand-me-downs. We have gotten some matching clothes for gifts, and picked up a few here and there, but mostly they do not match. Actually, some days they're lucky if they're both dressed like girls :)

Mine are identical and I, like other people, swore that I would never dress them in matching outfits. That didn't last long. lol. I usually buy 2 outfits but they're not always wearing them at the same time.

I also have identical boys - and I told everyone - No, I will not dress them alike. Coordinating, but not alike. Now, I can't help myself. I'd say 80% of the time they either have the same outfit on or coordinating outfits. The other 20% of the time they are wearing their big brother's hand-me-downs! :)

But I've discovered that I absolutely LOVE putting them to bed in the same pajamas! The first 8 or so months they wore matching, coordinating, or completely different pjs - but when I bought their fleece winter jams - I bought all the same. I just love looking at them at night wearing the same pjs. There is just something so sweet about it! :itwins_boys:

As so many others have said I didn't think I would dress my girls alike. Well, we were given so many matching outfits and then I felt that they needed to wear them at the same time, lol. I really like to coordinate them more than dress them exactly the same but they are dressed alike fairly often, so I voted yes.

I have frats. When we are at home they usually do not match because they are in a sleeper or onesie. When we go out in public I always have matching outfits on them. I think it's cute!
I get very frustrated in stores, though because I'll find an adorable outfit I want for them and can only find one in their size!

Identicals and yes, I dress them matching or coordinating during the day. I think it cuts down on the "are they twins" question. I do not dress them matching or coordinating for bed though, just anything that is pajamas and weather appropriate.

If i ahppen to have matching outfits then yes I let them match but we have so many hand me downs from our singleton friends that there are a quite a few times thay do not match or even coordinate. DD Grace is a little bigger than DD Sarah so there are a few things that only she can wear.

My guys arefraternal and I voted yes. Only because that is what they choose. I try to get a couple of outfits out and let them choose what they want to wear. If I get them dressed when they are not with each other sometimes they choose different outfits, but on most occasions they choose to wear the same outfit.

I try to match my boys when I can. Sometimes I get 'coordinated' outfits. Same outfit but different colors. It is hard sometimes since there is a big size difference between them. They are 13 months (9 1/2 months adjusted) but there is a 6 lb size difference. Matthew is 13 1/2 lbs and finally into 3-6 month stuff but Joshua is 20 lbs and in 12 month (some 18 month pjs) stuff. So it is sometimes hard to find matching outfits in the different sizes. That's part of why I do coordinated too, when Joshua grows out of them I know they will eventually fit Matthew and he wont have to have the same outfit again.

it is so much easier to only have to think of ONE outfit and then just double it. that is the main reason I do it. Since they are not ID they look different enough that clothes will not change that. Yes, so much easier on my little brain. I'm glad from the beginning I wanted matching clothes. Not sure what I will do when they want to dress differently, hopefully it will suit the weather for that day....

I totally agree!! Frats here and I dress them alike at every opportunity. It TOTALLY IRKS me when I find cute stuff and then they only have one of that size. My husband used to say "buy It' but now he just knows I want it to match so he doesn't say a word!! :p
