Sam and Lu's Birth Story

I woke up at about 3 am Sunday morning with some leaking. I honestly wasn't sure if it was the after effects of sex or my water breaking. It seemed like too much to be sex related but since I wasn't sure I just made sure I took note of it and went back to bed. At about 7 am I woke up to a contraction that was annoying enough to wake me out of a not too deep sleep. I got up and was still leaking which led me to believe that it could actually be my water. I decided to just sit around for a bit though and see if it stopped. It didn't and I went to lay in bed until DH woke up. If it was the real thing I didn't want to wake him up too early and have him miss out on dire sleep. So he finally woke up and I told him I THOUGHT my water had broken. He called his work, told him he wasn't sure he was coming in and he'd keep in touch. So we called the doctor and headed up to the hospital! Once we got here they set us up on the monitor machine and tested the fluid and of course it did test positive as amniotic fluid!

So we got set up in a room and the doctor came in and talked to us about our delivery options. Originally I planned to try for a vaginal but when the reality of it all hit me I opted for the c-section as the doctor advised. Turned out to have been for the best because tricky little Sammy was breech! So once I had decided on the C-section everything happened so fast! Within the hour I was in the OR getting a spinal picking out music for the delivery (I didn't end up picking and they came in to the world during a Michael Jackson song)

At 3:29 Lucy Dee Evans made a very loud entrance with Samantha Lea Evans following quietly just after at 3:30. Lucy was 5lbs 13oz and Sammy was 6lbs 1oz. Lucy was 18.5 in and Sam was an even 18 in.

My stay at the hospital has been nice. We have been making great progress with breastfeeding, just waiting for my milk to come in. I am up walking around a bit, sore and tender but recovering well. We had hoped to go home today but the pediatrician wants us to stay another night, no big deal to me but hubby was disappointed. He just wants to go home.

Our first night was very rough with little sleep, 2nd night nearly as bad b.c twins cluster feeding means 10 min breaks if we're lucky. At 4 am we had the nurses take em so we could rest some. They came back at 6 am.

We're leaving the hospital tomorrow then my staples come out Thursday. I'm on some great pain pills, really help me get around!
