Is there a special kind for this or can you use any saline? I have saline for contact lenses and wondering if it is the same. If so how is it administered?

I think saline is saline! You basically squirt it up their noses! One or two drops doesn't do anything. You have to fill their noses until they kind of snot it out with all the crap! Lovely. We brought saline spray - much easier to administer - it sprays to the side of their noses and not up into their brains! Either way they will howl!

I bought a spray that came with a lovely sucker thing to suck every thing out after (tmi) anyway I couldnt use the sucker I just squirted it up there and used a tissue under their nose to catch the flow.Good luck :)

I wouldn't use anything else than saline drops made especially for babies... Quite sure the lenses stuff has chemicals in it, and you don't want that in your babies' nose.

There is a saline spray for babies called Little Noses.

I second that! I've used Little Noses on the babies and it works great. Easy to administer and easy to suck out (the worst part, I think). Good luck!

We use a saline spray made specifically for noses. I believe you can find it very near the other nasal sprays like Afrin. This stuff is a lot cheaper than the Little Noses stuff. Our ped recommended the basic saline nose spray and it works very well when we use it.

I too, would only use a spray designed for noses.

2nd that no no the stuff for the lenses are not the same saline it can burn thier poor noses:( the pharmacy or walmart have ssoo many kinds of saline drops for infants-sprays,drops, you name it--i have to use the aspirator afterwards to clean them out-like it or not:( its easier for them to sleep-i also have a humidifer, vicks plug ins and the fan blowing upwards to circulate the air but not blow on them--
