We turned our family room to the twin play room. We have 1 jumperoo, 2 excersaucers, 1 foam play mat, 2 toddler rockers, 2. High chairs so they sit and play with toys, 1 sectional, toys. We didn't have any problem with the arrangement until this month. My girl is so active and on the move constantly.she rolls crawls everywhere.she likes to move out of the playmat and under furnitures: highchairs, rockers,..she can moves cross the room in seconds.I am so afraid she would hurt herself.the other day, I put them in rockers turned on baby eisteins and went up stairs to clean up their room. I used to have a good hour like that. I went down check on them after 15mins. They were half way out of their rockers even traps were still on!!- just didn't know how.its just getting worse.we cannt leave them even for 5 seconds.my son is not that active. He doesn't care much for moving. I guess he's bigger than her so itd take him more effects to move.she hates pnp.I think of buying super playyard with fences go around but not sure if they'd cooperate or not.what did/do you do?is it time for us to get rid of not baby friendly stuffs: glass tv stand, fish tanks,.. Omg if so I really don't know where to start and when I have time to do that

Oh we also have tv, stand, and fireplace in the room.

I do have to say that your family room sounds like ours. Although, I have moved everything out I found that I could not walk out of the room like you and leave them bc i did not know what they would get into. So now our den consist of a sesctional couch and tv and alll their toys we have removed everything else. i did not want to block them off in a pack and play and i thought a super yard would take toomuch room up so just baby proofed to the max and they have free roam.

yes i would start getting rid of stuff if i were you!!

I am now trying to figure out wear to put our tree!! We always have it in our den(no where else to put it) but im afraid the babies are going to try and pull it down! since they are pulling up on EVERYTHING!!!!

    cRAZY HOW TIME FLIES!!

    Good luck :)

I agree with the PP...my entire main floor (open concept house) is free of anything that isn't baby-safe. I don't have anything decorative (unless toys count, lol) or anything else for that matter that could be dangerous. I also have 4 gates set up (top of stairs, bottom of stairs, 2 entrances to the kitchen) and the door to the bathroom on the main floor closed at all times. At this point I feel it comes down to safety. I didn't have to baby-proof this much with my son but there was one of him and one of me. Now with an active 3 year old and two 10.5 month olds crawling, climbing and eating everything I can't possibly be everywhere at once. Also, when my son is home and awake our couch always gets turned into a fort so it's kid central here and apparently will be for a while to come...I say start baby-proofing and get used to it :).

Sounds like it is time to baby proof! We have a large area of our house all gated off and free of most anything that is not safe (there a few chords we can't really move, but that is about it). You can try a playyard, but if she is already moving around, she may protest it at this point. Once our guys started crawling well, the playyard lasted about another month, and then they would just scream everytime we put them in it. Also, in terms of safety, they would push the playyard all over the place, crawl of top of each other, etc. I never left them alone in the playyard for more than about 5-10 minutes once they could move around. I know it's hard, but it sounds like you are going to have to adjust to the idea that you can't leave them alone anymore - for me, it meant getting up earlier to get myself dressed, have breakfast, etc. before they are awake and a number of other adjustments. Our guys are cruising and trying to walk already (take short walks of 3-4 steps between furniture, etc.), so I can't turn my back for more than a few seconds these days! Our tree this year is a small 4-foot tree up on a table, backed into a corner they can't get to - otherwise I KNOW they would tear it down and push it over!!

I knew we had to baby proof someday, but never thought that day has come. Its like yesterday we had to wrap them up in blankets so we could able to hold them. They were tiny. (born at 32w1d and were 4lbs3oz)...i thought about turning our master bedroom into their playroom so we still have our living room. We moved out living room to the fron room. But then we have to sleep in the garage lol. A super yard wont work, because she would scream bloody murder. She doesnt like her swing, bouncy seat anymore. She always loves to hit the floor. Can you believe it one day I pumped milk 1 hand and another hand was holding her leg so she wouldnt move away lol. I still cant believe we have 2 8months old kids!!!
Well, I guess I have to start removing all mine plant stands, tv, glass tables. I spent so much time to decorate my house.Now....
