I wanted to post here to get more responses b/c in First Year they might now know yet...as I don't know either...lol!

Anyway, Olivia has had a runny/stuffy nose for going on 2 weeks now. At first, I chalked it up to teething (even though she really has no other teething signs). She has no other "cold" symptoms, but I'm constantly at her with the nasal aspirator and nose saline to clear her nose or it makes bottles next to impossible. She gets so irritated that she can't breathe with her mouth shut.

Does it sound like teething? A cold? Allergies?? I just don't know.

Sounds like a cold. They tend to take my kids 2-3 weeks to fully run their course.

I thought Alice had an ear infection so i took her to the pedi today, turns out, it's just a cold with lots of fluid behind her ear drums. She said to get a cool mist vaporizer and run it at night, let them (both of them actually have the cold) play in the bath tub for longer, sit in the bathroom with steam from the shower. Basically try to turn the snot wet so they can get rid of it easier. Also, bottles as sitting up as possible.

Ugh! Avery has had the SAME problem!!! Every morning around 4:00 I have to suck the snot out of his nose and he hates it so much, I'm afraid he's going to wake up the whole block! But I have to do it so he can nurse! He has his 6-month appointment on Thursday so I'll be getting it checked out then.

Just know that you're not alone! :)

If it's clear, runny snot, could be allergies, too. All of my boys were on Zyrtec and Singulair (at the same time) because they had allergies so bad... this started at about 6 months for oldest DS, and about 9 months for twins. They have all seemed to be pretty good this season... although we've been dealing with stuffy noses for about 2 weeks now. Many people say that infants don't get seasonal allergies, but I've experienced otherwise!! :) Good luck!

Sounds like a cold to me. Just was to the doc last week for a cold and she said summer colds have been last 2-3 weeks--UGH! Just keep wiping, it's all you can really do for her!

If it is clear, it could definitely be allergies. My girls had runny noses really bad...I sucked so much gunk out them I thought I was sucking out their brains :) They also had gunk in their throats and sounded like they were wheezing but their lungs were always clear. I was told by our allergist that it was just mucus in the back of their throats from drainage. Ours turned out to be food allergies and not seasonal allergies. Once the allergens were eliminated they completely cleared up. They are allergic to wheat, eggs, dairy, beef, squash and bananas. They ate these foods everyday so no wonder they were so gunky!
