I was reading the post "sooner that I thought" and a few of you wrote that you ran out of room at around 37 weeks. How is that determined? I am only 5 feet tall and short waisted. I am almost 34 weeks and my doctor keeps talking about 38-39 weeks. I feel stretched to the max now and can't imagine at least another 4 weeks of growing.
    Thank you.

I think "running out of room" isn't a reason (more a feeling). I think as long as you and the babies are doing well, there is no reason why you can't continue carrying them. I delivered two almost 8lbs babies and never felt I was running out of room. Sure, I am 5'9", but I still delivered 15 1/2lbs of baby. Fluid levels were fine, NST were good, blood pressure was good ... no reason to intervene.

Wow! Those are big babies, good for you for holding onto them for so long!
I will agree that running out of room is a feeling, but theres no reason to think you cant go as long as anybody else because you are a smaller frame. My friend had twins at 41-weeks, almost 20-pounds of baby and she is only 5'1, delivered naturally and babies and mom are doing very well. I dont subscribe to the thinking that your uterus expires at 36 or 37-weeks with twins... your body knows when you are ready.

My Ob told me that if you really do run out of room that it will usually start labor-however she said that "running out of room" is more often the momma just feeling really uncomfortable. I had that feeling and was barely able to walk by the time I hit 33 weeks. I was seriously uncomfortable to the point where I wasn't feeling well anymore. Literally in a time frame of less than 24 hours ( I was dc'd from the hospital after being admitted for 4 days in PTL and receiving mag at about 7pm and I returned for a NST at 1pm) I became preeclamptic and had an emergency section at 33 weeks and 4 days. Maybe that happened because I was out of room and my body couldn't take it. I had no previous BP problems and my last BP prior to discharge was 116/76. When I went in the next day it was 160/100!! My boys luckily weighed 5.8 and 5.9 and scored 35-36 weeks gestation on their dubowitz assessment (sp?) so they are thinking maybe my dates were wrong.
