I feel like they always are napping.... I dont know how to keep them up longer during the day....they get so cranky and scream that I put them down for a nap....I try to have them once in the am and once in the afternoon.....they arent sleeping threw the night . (only once in awhile)

Sounds as though they may be getting too much sleep during the day. How much are they sleeping during the day? Are they still feeding at night? I would really try to work on shortening their daytime sleep so they sleep more at night and hopefully sttn.

How long are they staying up during the day? How many meals do they have?

At 8 months mine still had three naps, every 2.5 hours for how long they wanted, and we switched them to two at 8.5 months... one at 9.30am and the other at 2pm, with bedtime at 7pm... I've found that mine don't sleep as well if they don't sleep enough during the day. They have three meals a day now also, and if I skip one they definitely get hungry and might wake up starving at 5am.

    My boys wake at
    6am for bottle,
    solids at 7am,
    nap at 8am-10am,
    bottle at 10am,
    solids at 11:30,
    nap at 12:30 or 1pm,
bottle when they wake from afternoon nap usually 2:30 or 3pm,
    solids at 5pm,
    bath at 6pm,
    bottle at 6:15 or 6:30,
    bed by 7pm

They sleep from 6:30 or 7pm till 6am. Their morning naps are the best and usually last at least 2 hours.....they afternoon nap varies a lot, but usually about 1.5 hours.

    Hope this helps!

Why do you want them up longer? Mine had 3 naps until 8.5 months, and couldn't stay up longer than 2.5 hours before that... . At 6 months mine were sleeping 4 to 5 hours during the day, and needed a nap every 2 hours. Just listen to them, put them down when they're tired, eventually they'll be able to stay up longer.

Seems to me that if anything they're not napping enough during the day.

Babies that sleep well during the day usually sleep well at night. Some days my 9 month olds take 2 naps, sometimes they take 3. Just depends on the day and what we did etc.

They still wake up at night. DD usually 1x, and DS can wake up multiple times.

    Our normal schedule:
    7-8am wake up & milk
    9ish solids
    10ish milk & nap
12ish wake up milk & solids
    2pm milk & nap
    3-4 wake up
    5-6 dinner (optional 3rd nap)
    bed between 830-930

Are they sick? are they teething? are they hungry or thirsty?
