My babies came early. They were born March 13, 2008 after a week and a half on hospital bed-rest. They were 32 weeks old. They are tiny little boys weighing in at 3 lb 15 oz and 3 lb 14 oz. On Sunday March 2nd I was admitted to the hospital. I had dilated to 4 – 5 centimeters. I was given some contractions stopping medicines, which made my body feel like crap. Finally I stabilized. On March 12th labor began. I slowly began to dilate from 4 -5. By 2 that morning I was a 7 and my bestfriend, and dh's parents had made the commute from Northern Virginia to Charlottesville. We held vigil that night. I in the hospital bed, Virginia on the floor, dh in the comfy chair, mil in another chair, fil in the waiting room on a couch. Around 2 am I got my epidural and was able to get a little sleep. By 5 am we were all awake again. And so the day wore on ... and on ... and on ... Around 2pm my water broke on it’s own and by 5pm I was 8 centimeters dilated and it was decision time. Do we risk the chance of infection to buy the boys more time or do we go ahead and start the pitocen to help labor along. We decided that healthy preemie babies was much more preferable then sick preemie babies and the most waiting would do was buy me another ay. So, they started the pit only to have to stop it because I was progressing very fast and they had an emergency c-section and not enough NICU nurses. At 7:30 I was rolled to the OR. I started pushing at 7:40 and little Rorik James (Rory) was born at 8:17. dh rushed over with the nurses to make sure he was alright. Within the next minute Jonas Ralph was born. He decided to make quite the entrance by sliding out feet first. He didn’t give the nurses anytime to try and externally or internally flip him. I didn’t even have to push with him. The nurses then took Jonas. Much to my surprise I was allowed to hold both boys with 10 minutes. I had been told not to hold out much hope because they were so small. Both the boys were great. Neither of them needed oxygen. I got to hold Jonas first. He had shoved his little fist in his mouth and was sucking away. He was very red. Rory came next. He was very pale compared to his brother. We got several pictures, which Ryan should be sending to me sometime today. He took the camera so he could download them. After the delivery I started shaking really bad. Ryan thought I was having a reaction to one of the medicines or a seizure. Really it was just that the OR room was FREEZING! They got me some heated blankets but even though right as the blankets hit my skin I stopped shaking I had to stay in triage/recovery for 2 hours. UGH! As soon as we were taken back to my room I ate something ... 23 hours is a long time to go without food. I then hurried down to see the boys. The did end up needed a little oxygen but the nurses thought they would remove the Cpaps by today. Rory needed a blood transfusion. He was extremely pale when he was born. They think he might not have gotten enough blood in the womb. His blood pressure was low last night. They gave that to him last night and said he should be fine by tomorrow. So I am pumping like crazy but am getting nothing. It's only been one day so I am trying not to freak out. I am waiting for that heavy full feeling but nothing ... ugh! evie http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b240/eco.../DSC_0033-2.jpg
Congrats on your beautiful boys! Oh and don't worry, most women's milk doesn't come in until the third or fourth day.
CONGRATS!! I will be having my babies in less than 2 weeks - at 33 weeks - it is good to hear that your babies are great! Good going MAMA!
Congrats. Glad they are doing so well. keep us posted on their progress and send more pics when you can. Happy birthday Jonas and Rory
congrats!! im glad they are doing so well at 32 wks i would love to hear more updates! its a relief to know all can go well before 34 wks!
Congrats! What little cuties! Hope they get big as strong really fast for you. Sounds like they are doing pretty well so far
Congratulations on your little miracles! I am so happy that everything turned out okay. They are beautiful. I will keep them in my prayers, Lisa
Congrats on your two miracles. Your milk takes some time to come in. WHat you're getting is colostrum and it's so good for the babies. One thing I learned through having preemies is that mother's milk is different for preemies vs. full term babes. Your body knows they were early and adjusts the milk's content. Amazing! Take care and good luck!!! Lisa
Congrats!!!! Please keep us posted! I really want to hear how their progress is! Their absolutly beautiful!!! Tina
They look great! So do you! Congrats. It was 5 days for my milk to come in! But keep with the pumping!! Are you getting them to breast yet? The sooner the better for all of you!

Congratulations! They are adorable. Please visit the NICU forum for any support you need during their NICU stay. Keep pumping, that is the best thing you can do for your preemies! Hang in there. :hug99:
