I am contemplating doing away with the cribs and crib bedding and am looking to update the nursery to a more toddler friendly feel. I was wondering what other themes people had done for b/g toddler twins. I found the most adorable mermaid for my dd and pirate for my ds at www.olivekids.com. Just looking for more ideas... thanks.

We haven't switched ours to their "big" beds yet, but I bought the bedding last Christmas when it was on sale at PBK. I got the A to Z bedding. It's pretty gender neutral with lots of primary colors and a little symbol to represent each letter. One day I will do a "girly" room for Catherine and Elizabeth, but I want to wait until Elizabeth is a little bit older.

Our nursery was done in firetrucks. Dh and I are both firefighters. I got Emma Dora bedding and Ethan trucks bedding for when we make the switch to toddler beds. No one sees their room but me. What about Dora and Deigo?

We did a sports theme with primary colors for our DS and a flowers theme with pastel colors for our DD. PBK has some really cute quilts, sheets, etc. that are easy to match. Also, we used wallpaper borders in their rooms instead of painting or using regular wallpaper. This was so much easier to put up and it's supposed to be easy to take off. (We just wet the backing with water and the packaging claims that it won't leave marks later)

Dora and Diego...that's a great idea! I might steal that one!

  6. I have identical boy twins. As a potty training bribe, my husband told them he would paint their side of the room whatever color they wanted when they wore big boy underwear. Jacob's half is orange and Nick's half is a reddish/pink (yes, he is a boy, and pink is his favorite color, but the color he picked is actually quite nice).

Nick loves spiderman so he has a spiderman comforter and we got wall cling ons that match.

Jake's side is Nemo, with the bedding and wall cling ons. The room actually looks really cool, and we get lots of comments on it. When my husband painted it, he made the line between the colors zigzagged and it is really cool!

The 2 sides don't really need to be related. They could each pick whatever it is that THEY like, so it really is theirs.

    Just a thought!

I think your pirate and mermaid idea is really cute - maybe paint a ocean theme on the wall.

We went with colors -- their favorites as the theme. Here are some photos. I also thought maybe a bugs and flowers theme would work well for you. The leaves over my boys beds would be cute with that theme :):)

That is cool that you are both firefighters. My DD has told me that when she grows up she wants to be a firefighter. I don't know many and you are the first female one I know - sad to say.

I love the pirates and mermaids. It is very "now" and I think it will grow with them for awhile. My son is 4 and we just had a pirate birhtday. It would also be easy to separate later if you ever put them in 2 different rooms. My twins room is PBK Bermuda Fish and Bermuda Starfish and my sister painted an underwater ocean scene on the wall. I love it. And the babies love looking at their mural. I think a mural with the pirate and mermaid theme would be adorable. I'm very into room decorating! Have fun!

I think that the pirate and mermaid theme is really cute! I was thinking bugs and butterflies but I like your idea better. However, I also wanted to mention that my girls share a room and they have different bedding. It wasn't something that was really important to me. I wanted their beds to show their personalities and I let them pick their own. Kelly's is pink with Hello Kitty on it and Kaitlyn's is blue with Tinkerbell.
