I know the can says to throw away after 2 hours but I'm just wondering how long it can be left out? I premix a big jug (like the rest of you I'm sure) and I'm wondering if I put it in the fridge in the a.m. after I mix it and then leave it out the rest of the day--from about 10-5, we mix their last bottles right before their baths to give time to "de-froth", if that is too long? Right now I just pull it out about 1/2-1hour before they eat.
    Just curious? :)

I wouldn't leave a jug of milk out all day and expect it to still be good at the end of the day, so I would think the same would be true with formula. As far as how I did room temp...I put the scoops of formula into the dry bottles, and added the water when needed. Sometimes I added a drop or two of Mylicon to get rid of some of the bubbles caused by shaking it up.

I wouldn't leave it out that long either, I either mix bottles as needed or throw the bottle into the microwave for a few seconds to knock the chill off, it's far from being warm and closer to room temp then.

We mix as we go. Cuts down on the guess work and trying to get the right temp.

i don't think leaving milk (formula) out all day is good at all. i make the bottles 30 minutes before the girls have to eat.

Our formula is very specific that it shouldn't be left out for more than one hour and not be used after 24 hrs even if refrigerated. It's painful, but whenever we make up a bottle and have it out, the whole thing either goes into the babies or down the drain in an hour.

we make enough for the day -- and then keep prefilled bottles in the fridge. When we need a bottle we heat up water in the microwave and put the bottle in container of water to warm up.

It says on the formula packaging that it should not be left at room temp for more than 2 hours. Once you start feeding, good for 1 hour. If you pre-mix (I do this too) and place into the refrigerator it is good for 48 hours.

I agree with pp and would not leave it out. I have 12 bottles which I prefil with water. My formula is also pre measured and I put it into those munchkin formula travel containers. Then day or night I just pour in the pre measured formula to the pre measured bottles and viola! Easy!

I would not leave it out either. I do not pre-mix a jug, what I do is pre-mix all the bottles and leave about 8 bottles in the fridge during the day for the nanny to use. She has strict instructions to dispose of any unused formula if they do not drink the bottle in just UNDER an hour. Also I do not heat their bottles, they are given cold ( which I found they actually like and drink more when its cold vs room temp). I've smelled the bottles when its been an hour and it already smells bad to me then, so I would definitely advise against letting it sit out all day. Also read the formula can or call their 1-800 number to get an exact amount of time you are allowed to leave it out. My formula also has instructions stating not to feed if it has been left our more than an hour.
