My girls know how to roll from their backs to their tummies, but when will they learn how to roll from their tummies to their backs? When they play they like to roll to their tummies and hang out awhile, but then I have to come 'rescue' them when they get tired. Does this end?

Mine already roll from tummy to back, so they should have learned that already?? I don't know....these are our first kids so I have nothing to compare it to.

I always thought babies learned to roll from belly to back before rolling from back to belly, so that's interesting that your babies did the opposite. Maybe they're extra smart?? [IMG] Before my babies learned to roll on their own I used to lay them on the floor and roll them over and back so they'd get the feel for it, not sure if it actually helped or not. DD can roll both ways and DS only rolls belly to back so far. Despite this, I still need to "rescue" them when they get tired of being on their tummies.

I've always heard front to back between 2-4 months and back to front 4-6 months. My oldest went front to back at around 4 months and then at 5 months she did back to front. She was a very lazy girl ...

ame here. I feel like mine will never go from their tummy to back. they wont stop going from back to tummy and i too have to rescue them when they are tired of being on their tummy! I cant wait for this because i need them to sleep on their tummy at night as this back sleeping thing is not working well for them or me!!!

One of mine learned to roll both ways around 5.5-6 months. The other one didn't roll until about 6.5 months, and I can count on one hand the number of times she's rolled from tummy to back. She only rolls from back to tummy to see toys better. She used to yell when she was done being on her tummy, but now she just vegges out on her tummy once she's tired.

I asked the pedi about it, because I was concerned, but she said bigger babies sometimes have trouble rolling and she said not to worry. Just work with her on rolling.

Both of mine rolled from their tummy to their back first. However, now they roll from back to tummy and then get frustrated. They've forgotten how to roll from tummy to back. I posted on this a long time ago and took a poll of which way everyone's babies rolled first. If I remember correctly (I was soooo sleep deprived at the time), people responded pretty equally both ways.
