Rolling over during the night

Both of my sons have started rolling over onto their stomachs in the middle of the night. Sometimes they cry and wake us up so we go in and roll them back over, but sometimes they sleep that way. It freaks me out when I go in to check on them and they're asleep on their bellies. I worry so much about SIDS. They have great head control, are almost sitting up, etc. And I've tried positioners but they just roll right over them. How worried should I be? We go to the pediatrician for their 6 month appt next week and will obviously ask about it, but I wanted to get your feedback, as well. Thanks!

At that point, there is really nothing you can do except keep rolling them back all the time. Our Ped said once they were old enough to roll themselves on their bellies, it was okay for them to stay there.

My doctor always told me the same thing. If they are strong enough to get themselves onto their bellies, they are fine to sleep that way. Otherwise, you would spend your whole night going in & turning them back over.

Same as pp stated. My pedi said once they put themselves there, I would just be wearing us all out by trying to keep them on their back.

I have always been told the same as well! My twins just started doing this at 4.5 months. I was waiting for them to start rolling because as soon as my oldest started rolling over to sleep on his belly, he slept so much better!

My DS does this every time he sleeps! He also scoots himself into the corner of the crib so his head is squished against the corner...Must remind him of when his sister was squishing him up against my diaphragm!!! Anyway, he sleeps much sounder than when he was on his back. You can't do anything about it and shouldn't stress, but you want to make sure there are no blankets in the crib for them to get wrapped up in.
