So here's the background: I've been on strict bedrest now for four weeks due to short cervix (1.7 cm), dilating (1 cm) and lots of contractions (now on Procardia). I have contractions every day, but never enough for concern (4x hour).

Saturday morning, I woke up with lots of menstral-like cramping and round ligament pain. I had more contractions than normal, but not more than 4 an hour...In the early afternoon, I started contracting a lot! This lasted for two hours or so...until I had some lunch (hadn't eaten much that day). I drank a ton of water and laid on my left side. Then everything calmed down...When I woke up the next morning, I was about twice as big! (....or so it seemed!!! ;) )

Monday, I had my weekly OB appt for a cervical check. The ultrasound technician measured me at 1.2 cm! I have been funneling (with a "hyper dynamic cervix"...sounds cool, doesn't it??) Apparently, my cervix opens and closes constantly, so the measurements are somewhat unreliable. It depends on how much babyA's head is pressing against my cervix during the measuring...

Anyway, my OB was considering sending me back to the hospital. I told her I had an appt with the peri on Wed (today). Since I'm already taking meds and on bedrest, she decided to wait until after my appt to make the decision, unless I had more contractions in the meantime.

So....today, I packed my hospital bag, paid all the bills, etc, just in case. We had our 28-week growth scan. Our girls are measuring a WHOPPING 10 days ahead...WOOHOO!! A is 2 lbs 9 oz and B is 2 lbs 12 oz. Both were measuring about 29w5d! Blood flow was good and fluid levels were great!

BabyB's cord looks great...she's the one with the velamentous cord, which doesn't seem to be bothering her at all!!

Then the moment of truth....When the peri measured my cervix, the first measurement was 1.6 cm. Then my cervix closed up a bit and was measuring 2.8 cm! Go figure!!!

So......I didn't have to go to the hospital.....HOORAY!!!!! I'm back home, on strict bedrest...It was so wonderful to walk back into my home. I feel like I can make it through the next four weeks with no problem!! (32 weeks is my first big milestone!!)

I know....long post...but I just had to share!! With weekly cervical checks, bi-weekly ffn tests, and bi-weekly growth scans, these girls have got to be some of the most closely monitored babies in history!!!!!!! :yahoo:
