My guys have books in their room. When they wake up they will look at them until we get them..although sometimes (just the other day) they decided to rip pages out of the books!!! They haven't done this in months! I get very angry when they do this. I scolded them but unfortunately it wasn't until later that day b/c I didn't know they did it that morning. Is this normal at this age? I would think they should know not to do this at this age especially after I told them a while ago when they did it. I took all the "rippable" books out of their room but a few months ago I think they somehow pulled pieces off of a hard page book. My DH didn't think they knew at this age but I thought they should know. What do you think?

mine are about the same age as yours and are the same way with books when no one is looking, but they also like to bite off pieces of the pages, chew it up and spit it on the floor, we have NO books in any room but the living room where its easier for me to notice them doing it. we also had the same problem with the hard book, they would just peel off the top layer of paper on them also.
hope its a passing phase :)

Yes, I believe I am raising gerbils.
They are not allowed to have books in their cribs.

Mine do the same thing. I only have board books in their bedroom and all the "rippable" books in the living room. I can't wait for this phase to end. <_<

I could have written your post. DD rips paper books, so ALL of them had to go into the closet under lock & key. ug. If she does get a hold of one, it's doomed.

so normal....they have ruined more books than i care to think about. They were getting better, but then they get mad or frustrated and rip away!
